Stupidness has led me in a broken ankle

Right, so I went out with a mate and for a really long time I've been trying to climb a really high wall, I'm not sure how high it is, but I finally got up, and achieving to get up on this wall, I FELT LIKE GOD. So what did I do? I ran, jumped off and did a 360 and I've fucked up my ankle. My mum can't take me to the hospital, she doesn't drive, my step-dad is out and I can't walk AT ALL. I'll upload the video of me being a total bellend if I do get it from my friend, and let you know if it's broken which I have a big feeling it is.

If you can't walk and you jumped from a high wall it is most likely broken and if it is, get well soon.

They're round my house and I'm going to the hospital, my mum didn't want to phone them as this isn't a 'life or death emergency'.

    Hahaha. What a bellend.

Round here having the Ambulance called for a non-emergency can rack up a bill of over $2,000. So most private health insurance plans have Ambulance cover.

Whoa haha, it turned about being sprained anyway, and the pain of having a sprained ankle is more severe than having a broken one. ._.

Call your friends, have them throw you into a car.
    Ta-da!

If you seriously can't do that due to loner status/your in a new town:
Get wagon/Anything on wheels, then get pushed to the hospital.

Master plan #3, get 2 sticks and attempt to walk using one leg.

Just for clarification, you can't say that a sprain is more painful than having a broken bone. It all depends on the injury. Although a sprain is a more severe injury in terms of recovery.

Yeah, and if you called an ambulance for a non emergency the worst you would get is a nurse telling you "do not do it again" lol.

Thought I broke my ankle numerous times but it was sprained. Since injuring it so many times I tend to trip on the bad one. I had to have it in a splint once and been on crutches more than once, doh.

He didn't. He said a sprained ankle hurts more than a broken ankle, and that is absolutely 100% correct.

And what? A sprain takes longer to heal than your bones slowly mending themselves and re-growing? No, it absolutely does not. Recovery time for a SERIOUS sprain is 1-2 months tops. A serious bone break at the same location can take 3-6 months to heal, and that's not even fully healed, that's just enough for the limb to be usable again. full recovery doesn't happen for at least 12 months.

So do we. But using an Ambulance for a sprained foot when there are people who legitimately need transportation to the hospital or emergency assistance after a serious illness/accident... You should most definitely be charged an obscene amount for it. Just like you should be charged for negligent homicide if you refuse to give way to an ambulance and the patient dies as a result of not getting treatment in time.

I thought I was right about a sprain being more severe pain wise, cause this ankle's killing like a bitch, but I think it's getting better as I can walk but my foot has to be at a really awkward ankle and I limp really bad haha.

Yea i've broken my foot before, and after the initial break it does not hurt. It feels very uncomfortable and of course it hurts if you try and put any pressure on it, but the bone itself does not have nerves so it can not feel pain. A sprain on the other hand is a twisted and sometimes torn ligament, that is actual nerves and tissue and muscle being twisted and sometimes even torn.

Whenever we've gone to our doctor for a sprain, she has always said "If it hurts you know it's just a sprain, it's when it doesn't hurt that you need to watch out for".

Yeah I get you, the nurse said I HAVE to put pressure on it otherwise it'll seize up, and I honestly don't want to because of the pain, but if it doesn't hurt you're not really going to get it checked out are you? Haha.

Re: Stupidness has led me in a broken ankle

I don't mean it doesn't hurt at all, it hurts but not in the same kind of pain. It's a numb feeling, and it feels very uncomfortable. But compared to a sprained limb it's definitely not in the same class of "pain". It's not like you're going to break a limb and not realize it, the moment you put pressure on it you will feel sprained ankle x10.
