I don't think thats true... I've never been put in jail.

They can commit you to a hospital involuntarily, though... I was told that in order to do that, they had to call some doctors and have them document everything, and give a good reason for you to have to be there. I dunno, though.


Anyway... I really am not planning on it anymore, I've been feeling lonely today... its just the weekend... that always gets to me. I don't think I'll do it currently, my mindset is pretty good, although I am thinking about the past too much... about how I kept trying to do it.

Suicide is definitely not the answer in most cases, but there are things in life that you can't get past.

I've told this before here and i will again.

A few years ago i saw this woman on TV, one day she came home and found her 3 kids murdered by her boyfriend who committed suicide after that.
Now here is the thing, first of all if she were to commit suicide, then i would definitely not call her a coward or anything like that, the fact is that you can't handle that much, it's just to much to grasp, everyone who you love, everyone who makes you really you, is gone, what is left in life? She was to old to have more kids, she will probably never allow a man in her life again, she will have serious trust issues and a pain that will never go away. And that's what happened to her, she didn't kill herself, but she is a empty shell, she can't feel anymore, every spark of joy or anything like that was gone.
You tell me if it's selfish of her to end her life, or selfish from us if we tell her that she should live?

I think the basic question would have to be, do you have anything to live for? And you have to go further then your current emotional state, is there something or someone(s) out there that can make your life better, can make you smile again, enjoy life again. It's quite rare that someone can't find anything like that anymore.

I still wouldn't call any of them cowards or anything like that, how many people talk about suicide like it's a disposable item? How many actually do it? It definitely takes balls to actually do it. Like i said, it's in 99,99% of the cases the wrong action, but it's not a result of being a coward, it's a result of having no hope, once you have no hope, then how do you get the feeling that there is hope?

I've been in the situation of having no hope, not just a little while, i'm talking years here, trust me when i say that there is nothing as destructive as that feeling, i never had any suicidal plans myself, but i can understand them, i can understand that some people can't/couldn't cope with them, not because they were cowards, but because they couldn't close of their mind to those feelings like others can.

Like i said, suicidal is not the way out and there is a better life out there, but you have to take steps to take it. That said, i can understand the feelings and even agree with the action in rare cases, because there is just no life left for those people, only years of pain.

I'm no1 to judge... but there are people over this earth that lives in places full of hate, denied of the basic things a human being needs to survive and develop, punished for thousands of years (and many more to come) and they still wake up and have love for this life and try to help others find a way around their problems.

I guess evolution and the adaptation of the fittest may also be in mind states... you being given a power that took mother nature million of years to perfect, if you do not accept that and do not cherish that every day of your life then well, you'll be left to die like an animal with a broken bone is abandoned by their family cause they know he can't succeed.

What a selfish feeling... you could be helping a lot of people and only thinking about yourself and your problems.

If you want people to respect you, to cherish you, to make them feel like you are in this life for something get the fuck up of your chair, stop winning and learn that in this life shit isn't always about you.

Suicide is denying others of your help, it's denying life to others.

I've had my forearm chewed up by the chain drive of a motorbike during a motocrossing accident. Got a nasty scar running down the length of me arm from the wrist til almost the elbow... people often think it was a failed suicide attempt. >_<

I have never tryed to kill myself, but after the death of my daughter I did start having feelings of self harm, and a want to have thing end. These feelings have never really gone for me. I became ill over 3 years ago, and have been on pain releif and other mediction now since then.

For whatever reason my mind has a very strong survival instinct, and when ever I get that low, something always comes along and I manage to shake them feelings long enough for them to become back in prospective.

This can be anything from a planned trip away, to a text from Exy.

Its fine pointing out all the reasons not to, but sometimes, when your that low, you don't think how you normally would. I would be more than willing to talk to you in private about this.

I don't know about you, but I have found my Dr's to be less than usless when it comes to talking to them about it, but there are people that you can talk to. Exy and Gohan to name just two people from this forum that will always lend a ear should anyone need to vent.

i tried commiting suicide after my girlfriend did... there was just too much people watching me after she died so i failed... took 3/4 a bottle of OTC tylenol and 2 red bull and a bottle of cough syrup... whenever i look back on it im ashamed and barely bring it up...

i fink everyone has thought wat life would be like if they werent even hear and would any one even notice, even me and i had alot of friends do well with the oppisite sex and alot of ppl consider my life good but everyone goes thro that period of bein really down and that no one loves/cares for u and will u eva be happy and ur always bored and not doin anything and even tho it really feels like no one understands and ur life is the worst, it really isnt uve got to put things in perspective like i seen in the newpaper a women who was locked in a cage by her own father and rap'd by him and had 3 kids by him and was sold as a sex slave and dont you think she wanted to die gettin that to her and she hasnt will probley need alot of concelling but she still here and ex is rite if you go for suicide its really the cowards way out

I respect everyone's opinion here, but you can't compare people like that. People can live a poor life by every standard in the book (handicaps, money etc etc), but can still have a fulfilling life due to love and friends and all that. The same goes the other way around, you can be succesful in life by all standards, yet be as unhappy as can be.

Imo i don't think most people can really grasp how a person who wants to commit suicide really feels, everyone has their bad moments, imamofothief gives a "great" (obviously it's not great what happened, sorry to hear about that) example of that, the pain a person feels in such a moment is insane, your life falls apart, but here is the thing, how long does it last? How long does it last before there is something in your life again that you feel happy about?
That's the key to it, people start to feel down, and it sucks for quite sometime, but you get over it, people who usually do this don't have this for quite sometime, they have this for years and years, the longer you feel like that, the less hope you have to get out of it and eventually your hope is gone, then when you have no hope left that your life will improve, then you will really understand those feelings. I've been there, i had no hope for years, in all those years i wasn't happy a single time, fact is that since that time i've only been happy a few times, but i do have hope now, so even when i feel down now, i know it will improve, and that's what seperates "regular" people from suicidal people, they don't believe it will improve anymore, so why bother living then?

But hey that's why i'm doing this work and these college educations, because sometimes just giving people a little bit of hope can be enough to turn their life around.

I don't know what much else to say. I thank all of you for your input on all of this.

I guess I do have some important things, I'm treated wonderfully by my parents. I get what ever I want at school, they do everything I ask them to do, let me do what ever I ask to do there.... a lot of privileges they give me, other students at school don't have.... they bend the rules a lot for some of those.

I asked to be put with a nice teacher in something I'd like, they did just that... I look forward every day to go see her. Thats what I wait to do, and I'm upset when I'm not able to do that.

When I was being treated unfairly by a teacher in the hallway, when I told them, they yelled at him and told him to leave me alone... I guess I have a lot of good things going on, but I am missing something that seems to be very important to me, having friends, and if you're going to call the teachers at school friends, then I'd say friends my age, or ones I can see when I want to.

I'd like more, I'm sort of sick of just sitting at home all the time, in front of the computer, usually waiting for someone who I talk to regularly to come online. I'm at school for an hour and a half a day, and I'd like more time there, in more classes, but I don't think I can unless they give me a one on one paraprofessional... and I don't think it'll happen.

what i dont get is why suicide is illegal, because if you actually kill yourself, what they gonna do, stick you in the cell dead?

and i havent tried killing myself, i think i actually have an alright life, yeah there are some bad points to it, but life would be boring if it was easy now wouldnt it.

no, i myself too wondered but the rule is if anyone helped them commit suicide then they get sent to jail.like if anyone encourages thewm to do it. btw mitch, you have a wonderful life. who cares if you dont have friends? you wont need them when you grow up.

Eh? That's not entirely true in my opinion. (The friends thing i mean)

Everyone gets depressed sometimes - it's all about your ability to cope in comparison to the amount of depression you suffer. If you don't have the ability to cope then it becomes a problem.

I have once been really stressed to the max and contemplated it, but then i realized why would i throw away my life when people in third world countries would LOVE to be in my position & would do anything for it.

The main thing to remember is, if you commit suicide, look how much hurt it will cause to those closest to you, who care about you so much & what you still haven't experienced in life if you do.

You can't compare it to a depression, i'm not even sure if it's part of the process, i mean i don't think i've ever been depressed, i'm sure it can be combined with it, but being depressed sometimes and being really suicidal are 2 different things.
Besides i believe doctors won't even call a depression a real depression if it doesn't last longer then like 9 months, which makes sense since people can always have something that gets them down, but a real depression is not just something that gets them down, it's a whole lot of things combined.

If this worked for you then good for you, but i don't see this working on 99,99% of the world population. Just because other people have it "worse" (and you truely can't compare most cases, because like i said before, you might have money food and all that, but if you have a shitty life because people put you down, you get no love from the people around you and all that, then a poor person will have a better life if they do get all the love he/she needs, because that person will be happy even though life is crap), it really won't make your own life better. It doesn't mean ofcourse that you shouldn't realise that you can do more with your life and appreciate the things you have, but people who commit suicide don't do it because they can't afford the biggest flatscreen TV, or not drive a expensive car and all that, they do it because they are not feeling good at all emotionally, and that's not something you can feel better about because a lot of people on this planet have no food, if anything that could only make you feel worse because here you are feeling so bad with all these riches, while in the end it makes no difference to your own feelings how much stuff you have.

When i stood up for my self freshman year and hit one of the biggest kids in my school. I felt so damn proud of myself. because. i didnt let him bother me. i didnt take it anymore. and i didnt give up. Walking away i knew what i did was somewhat wrong. but to me. I was tired of getting pushed around.

I may be small. But I didnt give up. no matter whats bothering you. or whats happening in your life. dont give up. I have been fighting for a couple weeks to proove my friend did not rape his ex. Which he didnt. and you know what? as much as it hurts to see a friend miss his grad day. I refuse to give up.

DO NOT GIVE UP. Live by that. Belive what you think is right. and not what people tell you is right. live by your morals. not your familys. Its your life. live it to the max.

Only thing I wanna tell you is that suicide is like quitting a game half way through. You might be losing real bad but dont forget the fact that you can lose to only a certain extent. You hang on till that point and after that you got nothing to lose and everything to win.

At the end of the day, all that matters is not whether you've won or lost - all that matters is whether you've finished the game. I'd rather lose a game with dignity over quit it half way through and leave the pain to the rest of my team to suffer after I'm gone.

What would you do? Would you rather hang in there and make things work out (no matter how hard it gets) or Would you just kill yourself and crush your identity and all that you've achieved in a blow and leave a trail of pain for those who actually bothered to love you? Now that is for you to decide.

Jesus, Mitchell we had this conversation a long time ago (You Probably dont remember) Just remember that Suicide is selfish and for cowards, and you're none of those. Just find out what you want to do with your life and future, it might involved some religion but, hey! it never hurts, just find the meaning of why your really here. And by the way Listen to some Motion City Soundtrack, They will cheer you up! Trust me!

Although some suicide seems fair to me, like Gohan already mentioned, most teens/young people, really shouldn't be given the option of suicide, considering that they've barely felt life.

I still look back at what ex said, and really I think it's the best way to never think about suicide. Keep taking risks, never hold back. Too scared or too shy to do something? Don't be...just do it, there can only be two outcomes, success or failure, and either way you'll improve as time goes on. If you keep taking risks, you won't overthink your problems. Stay active physically mentally and socially, and keep living day by day.

One problem that most young people have these days, is that they spend a lot of time at home, watching TV, spending time on forums, stressing out in-games, and overthinking life's problems; wonder if that girl thought i was a loser that i said that or asked that, wonder what he or she thought of me when i did this or that, wonder how they think of me, wonder this wonder that... You'll be preoccupied with these things, and they will build up negative thoughts. That's why the best thing to do is, like I said - be active.

- Exercise, no matter what shape you're in physical exercise is healthy and the best way to take your mind off things.
- Like Lightwarrior said, listen to music, watch movies, read books to keep your mind off negative thoughts.
- Instead of watching movies at home, spend time with friends at the cinemas, or just relax and socialize. Don't be afraid to try and meet new people, strike up a conversation with anyone, and just say Hi.
- And VENT VENT VENT VENT your problems when you do get to them, especially ones that burden you...and plan out solutions, alone or with the help of friends and family.

Although these methods might seem like you're covering up the suicidal thoughts, and just ignoring them...that's the whole point, you shouldn't be having them in the first place. Like many people said, life is too short. You're young and you've still got a lot ahead of you, life has its ups and downs, sometimes it might seem like it's always down...but no matter what...it could always be worse, and it will always become better.

I've had friends who tried and commited suicide, and those who survived, tell me, it was the easy way out of those feelings that hunt you down and are slowly killing you. But now they consider themselves cowards, but I still support them and give them my best friend love.

But Erik, Instead of facing his problems like a man, he decided to run away from it, and chose the easy door which was putting a gun to his head, he was selfish because he only thought how bad his life was, the bad parents that wanted him to be something else. He didnt think of his friends, family or others around him, he didnt think of the consequences of him putting that 9mm gun to his head and pressing the trigger. He didnt care how many lives he would destroy and completely shattered his family or leave all those friends behind wondering what they've done wrong. That my friend is selfish and cowardness.

Without reading all posts(cause im too lazy) i have thought about suicide too, problem is the same thing like BB, too much shit, ive fucked up pretty bad lately, in my opinion i don't wanna talk about it to no one, about the problem itself, so i try to find a way around, but it leads to thinking about suicide.
Well thats what i am, and i think nothing can change me.
