    Swine Flu

This kid name shane got it in my school, and his mom is dieing i feel bad for him.
    Spoiler:

    Parents and Students:

As of September 22nd, we have an on-campus student diagnosed with the H1N1 virus. In order to prevent the spread of the virus we have already taken several precautions:

    • Each classroom is equipped with a strong disinfectant that will be used to wipe the tables between each class period. In addition, our building maintenance crew is cleaning surfaces and doorknobs more frequently.
    • Hand sanitizer and tissues are available in all classes.
    • Hand sanitizer is being placed in the lunch line for students to use prior to the self-serve area.
    • Buses are being cleaned daily by the drivers.
    • We are prepared to isolate ill students and get them home as quickly as possible. We also have masks available for ill students to wear until they leave the school.

Although this virus is usually no more severe than the seasonal flu, it is Highly contagious. It is spread in the air and through contact with surfaces. We need your assistance in preventing the spread of the flu.

Please keep your student home if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

    • Temperature over 100 degrees
    • Severe cold symptoms, i.e., constant runny nose, nasal or chest/lung congestion, or coughing that is persistent or constant
    • Any one of the following- body aches, sore throat, cough, headache
    • Vomiting or diarrhea in the last twelve hours

In order for your student to return to school they need to have a normal temperature, under 99 degrees, for twenty-four hours prior to returning to school. This is without the aid of fever reducing medication, i.e., acetaminophen or ibuprofen. Also, do not send your student back to school until he has been symptom free for twenty-four hours.

To prevent contracting the flu, there are several precautions you can take:
    1. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. If you are sick, keep your distance from others.
    2. Stay home when you are sick.
    3. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. It's best to cough into your sleeve, but if you use a tissue throw it away and wash your hands.
    4. Wash your hands often.
    5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Surfaces can remain contaminated for two to eight hours with the virus.
    6. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritiously.

Please be prepared, in advance, to come and pick your student up if we call.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students well,

Shawn Hunt RN CSEC School Nurse

Wow, that newsletter is so over-dramatic. It's ridiculous. A few weeks ago, I wasn't feeling well and I had a temperature peak of 105 degrees. I visited the doctor, and she said something about swine flu, and told me to stay home for a couple days. I stayed home, took my medicine and drank some juice. I felt better within a couple days.

People are way too worried about the H1N1 virus, when in fact, it can be recovered from usually without any medical treatment. People like that of your school is what terrifies people, and makes them more worried. People need to chill out, this isn't the damn black plague.

What does his mom dying have to do with his cold? What is the point of this thread anyways? Millions of people have the H1N1 virus.

It really is fantastic that people keep saying they are living through the swine flu. We don't hear stories about the people that have died from it from them because they're dead...

People HAVE died from the swine flu and we know full well that it can cause complications for infants and people between the ages of 24-65 (and higher of course) that are immuno-compromised.

The reason that it is being treated like it is is mainly because of what was stated in the newsletter: it's highly contagious. Much easier to get it than the seasonal flu. No, it's not like the seasonal flu. It's a different virus with very similar symptoms.

Pregnant women (who are completely healthy) have died because of this. I know we've had deaths in the United States also. Even if they aren't many they are still there and that could very well be another reason people are taking this a little more seriously then they should. They don't want to be included in that unique statistic in which there are "complications".

And the whole vaccine thing is bogus. People are worried about getting Guilleain (however you spell it) Barre? Really? 1 in ****000 people get it. It's also quite treatable and the symptoms are very noticable (or at least I think most people would notice paralysis).

Edit: Really? I can't type out the number one-thousand?

There's a difference between the deadly swine flu, and the H1N1 virus.

Shit I had body aches & vomiting and diarrhea this weekend.. also I have severe cold symptoms but I've been having them for 4 consecutive years now.
But I think I'm mostly recovered by now except for the cold symptoms which never seem to go away.

Btw do you what his mother is dying of? Is it the swine flu or is it something else like cancer?

    Re: Swine Flu

I had the H1N1 flu, I think I posted a thread about it a couple months ago, to be honest it didn't feel any different than having a regular seasonal flu....my little sister got it from me, so my parents took her to the hospital just to be safe (she's younger than me), and they told my parent's to do the same thing they did with me, four days later she was fine.

1 in ****000 is still no good, that's still a whole lot of people who are going to be fucked over, just over 3000 in the usa alone if wikipedia has the population accurate. Maybe you think it's ok because you wont know these people, wouldn't be so great if it was one of your own family eh? How can you not see this attitude is so wrong? "its ok for some to get ill so long as i'm ok" what kind of society are we living in?

personally im more worried that most of the world think the best way to protect from illness is by injecting material past most of their natural barriers instead of boosting their immune system naturaly by eating whole foods and exercising, but hey dont listen to any of that voodoo mumbo jumbo about how eating food is the best way to correctly develop when you can keep taking your pills, getting your vaccinations!

those who aren't too busy listening to the same people that steal your tax for whatever purpose they see fit should check the following links
    http://remixxworld.blogspot.com/2009...e-inserts.html

(great page from the same site here, goodplace to start if you think the vaccine is safe)http://remixxworld.blogspot.com/2009...-post-for.html

    http://preventdisease.com/news/09/08...flu_hype.shtml

there are loads more and anyone who really cares will look into it

if you are not going to risk the vaccination it is very very important you look at your diet! All the information you need on a better diet and how to eat well for cheap is freely available on the net but if anyone needs help pointing in the right direction I dont mind helping!
