Ah, that design was so much better than the current in my honest opinion.
Designs always go all over the place.
Years ago forum software was very basic, straight lines etc etc. This had to do with limitations of the software, limitations with bandwidth/connection speed (round corners meant another image which made the page bigger to load) etc. Since then they have expanded on everything, because that was new, that's what everyone wanted. Lots of image use in signatures etc etc.
Now if you look at design these days, for example the metro interface that Microsoft uses for Windows (Phone) 8, Outlook etc etc, the idea behind that design is simplicity, so in a sense we're going back somewhat to which we came from, not because of limitations, but because crowded designs aren't that effective.
Personally I would be all for a minimal design, remove signature or leaving it to small amounts of text only, remove most information from left of your post, so remove join date, location, posts etc, so like nickname, title and avatar only. It would give a much cleaner look.

When it comes to Forum themes, I prefer the clean, simple ones, and like GohanSSJ says, a forum without huge siggy's, a lot of information about a user that you don't even care about etc is definately more appealing to me.

The theme above is definitely from '09. Am I the only one, who thinks that the metro theme wouldn't suit RZ at all?
I don't think the Metro team would be bad for RageZONE, because it's sure a very nice theme!
