To contradict everyone in this topic, you definitely CAN get a .com domain for free. You can even get free hosting with it aswell (Although that isn't the hard part ;)).

To leave you guessing (Expecting certain responses after this post ;)) I'll post later on how I got a free .com domain for free for a full year. All I'll tell you for now is that it involved Lycos ;)

What I meant to say was: FREE .com domain without having to do ANYTHING (Well you need to register and stuff, but that's standard shit). NOBODY (as in not anyone) payed for the year I had a free .com domain + extra hosting. Lycos was very generous ;)

There are (or were) also no restrictions to it's usage. I had almost no people on my website during the 12 month period I had the domain (+ hosting) so...
