I think the problem is you take youtube 2 seriously, relax guys. It's just videos, you know? The guy is smart, he gets some hits and he gives back some money.
This can also happen by paying companies. You give money to a company so they can promote your site. Company makes money, you get publicity, people in need, GET NOTHING.
Now this guy that wants to advertise his stuff found a way to corrupt the system equation! Company gets money (as ALWAYS), guy gets publicity, people in need, GET SOMETHING.
Plain simple logics. If you want to find a conspiracy issue there and trash a simple and working plan like that then please, close youtube, you are watching to many X-Files series.
By setting a quota so large, he knows he'll have to pay very little.
If he on average gets 10 million hits per video, it makes sense to say something like "for every 500k I'll donate $300" or something. If his average videos get less than 100k views, claiming a $300 donation at 100k is retarded. Mathematically he's very, very unlikely to have to pay out any more than what youtube gives him in advertising rights while getting people like you spamming the link around and getting free advertising.
Now if you wanted to help really, you would've hired guys with botnets to epicly spam his page so he'd get 50,000,000 views or something and then see if he holds true to paying out his $150,000 as he promised.
He is saying he will donate $300 for every 100k views because (I'm guessing) that's how much revenue he generates and gets paid for every 100k views. Now, I'm pretty sure this guy has donated other ways as well; he mentioned the "text haiti" method. Give the guy a break.
I'd rather to have a FOIA or a request pulled down from the actual charity he's donating to that shows with his name that he donated the proper amount.
You don't trust a person to prove they did something, you trust external sources. People can't be trusted in regards to facts about themselves. Ever watch an episode of House?
A few of his videos have hit 1 million views, I believe.
Edit: A lot of his videos have more than 1 million views, and a majority have half a million, or quarter million.
I'll admit, I watched this video, got curious, and ended up watching a few hours of his other videos myself.
Do I believe he's using the Haiti Quake to make a quick 300$? Not at all. It would be crappy if he did, but why would he exploit tens of thousands of people just for 300 measly dollars?
One of his videos has 30 million views, but for your sake, I'll say they all have roughly 100000 views, giving him 300$ per video. (Although theres multiple that have 1 million+, and 1 so far I've seen with 30 million.)
Anyway, he's got I think 392 videos.
Lets say each one has 100000 views, therefore 300$.
Thats $117,600.
Point back to Haiti, it looks like he has a good reputation, and a good fanbase. He's probably donating what he can, and more, which is a lot more than what most people are donating. (Although its understandable, since a lot of people can't donate themselves.)
We're not losing anything by watching the video, he'll only gain 300$ if he is a 'scammer'.
KevJumba has a YouTube account where he pretty much does the same thing but donates it to charity (all of it I believe).
Every month he posts a video of him sending the money through the charity's website. He obviously doesn't show the credentials, but the part where it says "Thank you blah blah blah, for your donation of blah blah blah."

By the way, he states he's giving some of his money. Meaning, he's probably getting more than $300 but he's going to give $300 for every 100k view.
*sigh* Have you ever thought of the other way around? Prove he is doing this solely to promote his site. Prove he is not going to donate the money. Until then, shut the hell up and stop being a naysayer on the sole basis that he introduced himself as someone from a site, rather than promote his site. You truly are stupid as hell.
That's impossible. Proving a donation is rather trivial and sufficient. Do you not understand that?
I'd have to literally violate his privacy by performing phone taps or putting bugs around to catch him saying that's what he was doing it for to prove that. We're not trying him in a court of law, it's not up to us to prove he's doing that, it's him asking people to help him make money so he can donate it, it's up to him to show he's keeping up his end of the bargain if we keep up ours. That's how it works.
OH FUCKING KAY THEN!!! Think about what in the fuck you just said...
The video JUST fucking got to it's first 100k views, so how in the fuck can you judge him before he even gets a chance to donate? If you actually watched the god damn video, it says the views will be counted Monday, 4PM Pacific to determine the amount donated. God fucking damn dude, I could slightly understand you saying the moronic bullshit you are saying if it was after that date, but since it isn't, please stop being a god damn hypocrite. Did you even watch the video, or did you close it the second he mentioned where he was from? This video is an opportunity for people that can't donate, for financial reasons. By viewing this video, they are essentially helping out.Quote:

2.50 * 100 = $250 per 100k views.Quote:
Youtube partners will make $2.5 to $5 per 1000 video views The most popular stars will earn $5 per 1000 views. This can really add up if you have 1 million views per video. Nigahiga for example, will earn $5000 per video they put up.

5 * 100 = $500 per 100k views.
Now, given that he has currently 116,118 views and a 5 star rating, he has possibly made $515 on this video. Out of that $515 (again, possibly less), he is donating $300 of it. If the views reach 200k, he will donate another $300, on top of the $300 from the 100k views. So, mathematically, the only way he stands to gain profit, is if the view count is not an even hundred thousand views. Would you like me to break that down even more? Lets do so...
1k views = $2.50 - $5.00 gained.
400k views = $1000 - $2000 gained, upon which $1200 will be donated
410k views = $1025 - $2050 gained, upon which $1200 will be donated
700k views = $1750 - $3500 gained, upon which $2100 will be donated
350k views = $875 - $1750 gained, upon which $900 will be donated
He only stands to gain a profit IF he makes more than $3 per 1k views. Since he clearly says in the video it would equal out to a little less than $300, and he will cover the difference, we can only assume/believe that he makes less than $3 per 1k views. You think he's making more than that? In your words, prove it. Otherwise, you were just shown the math you so desired. So how is he gaining anything in this? You are the only person in this thread that believes everyone else is thinking illogically, yet you like to pretend we are acting as if we know all. Hypocrite much?
You're making the assumption that he does actually pay it, and you're not considering the residue of his view count mod ****000 which is his profits from the ordeal. You're also assuming anything he says actually happened. Deal in facts please.
In the same sense that you are assuming he isn't going to pay for it? In the same sense you assume he's only using this video to promote his site? You are an ignorant moron, there is no doubt about that. He has shown no reason in this or previous videos of wanting to scam people in the way you are assuming he is. I've already showed you the numbers for money intake from view counts. If that's not dealing in facts, then what the fuck is? Seriously, ask the Wizard for a brain Scarecrow.
