This sure is weird.. less than 5 hours after that video was posted I checked some things out.
Notice in the video he goes to
www.redcross.org. Go there, the page looks like what he's got. Now, if you click on 'Donate now' just like he did, notice the part of the URL you can see in his browser is:
"org/cgi-bin/donations/haiti_paypal.html?s_src=RSG0000000000&s_subsrc=RCO_BigRedButton"
Notice that the org should be the .org of redcross.org. Try going to that URI on the red cross site. Hmmmmmm. Not found. Redcross.org for me redirects to "http://arc3.convio.net/site/PageServer?pagename=ntld_main". Further, notice in the video it's "haiti_paypal.html" (why is a html in cgi-bin, that's an oddity since you can make webservers do that but there's no point) but why would the ARC's donation page have haiti in it? Do they change their donation page's name to the latest natural disaster? Notice the ARC button redirects to two places, what I got was one of them, the other lives on american.redcross.org, but again, it's not a cgi-bin. It's a generic donation page.
Further, notice on his video the 'Donation Amount' box is at the top of the page. It does not exist on the page that I get. Further, when he goes forward, it instantly refers to paypal.
This page only has the IRF and Haiti relief and development as options, t he one I get has more. Further, at the bottom of this page, it reads "Thank you for your generous support. Due to high donation processing volume on redcross.org, you will be redirected to PayPal for donation processing. If you have any questions, please call 1-800-797-8022, option 2." and has the big paypal Donate button there at the bottom.
Why would this page only have 2 recipient funds on it?
Again, note that this was 5 hours after the video was posted. Is all of this possible? Yes, it's possible that RedCross was receiving an INCREDIBLY HUGE volume of donations and then 5 hours later had switched back to their load-balanced solution which couldn't handle the INCREDIBLY HUGE volume of donations going through it.. to one hosted by someone else with a .org domain (paypal may have one), and to host it on paypal. It's also possible that they dropped all of the other funds and only showed these two, though that wouldn't normally make any sense (unless these two had a huge majority of the donations being made), and that that donation page name accepted the exact same arguments as the one on their servers, but was named 'haiti_paypal.html'.
On the other hand, everything in that video can easily be faked with a little bit of common DNS and webserver trickery. Notice the URL bar is never shown after the amount is entered (so we can't see if the SSL connection was proper or what site he was on).
I remain skeptical, that's a lot of coincidence.
