I personaly use Microsoft Frontpage have been for 5 years, and photoshop. :)
Same I use photo shop (for the pics) and font page (for the editing) its all you realy need if you want to go into more complex stuf use dream weaver but I personaly dont use it. For animations use flash. The simples web site make I ever seen was Yahoo's wich is very simple >< you need to be retarded not to understand how to use it.
to start id say use fronmtpage and / or dreamweaver
frontpage is much more basic, just play around with them and learn how they work
learn at least a little HTML too, its very easy to pick up and very useful

I use Front Page 2003. It's cool but Dreamweaver is much better (i never learn to use it).
My friend creat wonderful sites in Dreamweaver.
First of all you cannot properly use thoes programs that make websites unless you have the knowledge of HTML tags to begin with. Go out and get yourself "HTML For Dummies." That will teach you all the basics you'll need to know to move on to the actuall HTML editors like Dreamweaver. Then you should be ready to creat websites of your own.

I use Dreamweaver, Flash, and photoshop. Usually if its complex setup i use Notepad.
