What summer holidays?
Don't have 'summer holidays' but going to the coast for a week then a trip aboard. Then the most exciting part of it all, rageparty. =D
Well, I've booked the 29th June to 8th July off and I'm still yet to book a holiday. Florida is on my list though, just need to find some flights!
In Portugal Summer holidays started for student :D

I never understood why you get the entire summer off school. Why? I do not understand the rational behind it. How does having 3 months off school during which time you know they won't do any studies somehow "help" a child? It sure as hell can't be the heat, because we get way hotter and in 45 Celsius heat you'll see the classrooms filled.
Cause your entire life is NOT school? THat sickens me, everyone thinks school is absolutely necessary, but in the end why do you go to school? TO live a good life, i personally think 3 months off school helps a lot.
On topic: I'll be working half time at my parent's store for teh moneyz then maybe have some fun with my bros :)

Those 3 months are good, you can take a rest, having the whole summer off is a way to make students go back to school with a fresh head. If it was just 2 weeks like the other holidays we would go back to school still tired, at least in my schoool.
There we have exams 24/7 and we have no time to rest expect the holidays :/
It helps because when I did my GCSE's I had something to look forward to afterwards, so yeah they help a lot.
I don't get a "summer break" so nothing but work and school.
Scratch that. As soon as I go into work I've gotta ask them to change my dates to 2nd July to 12th July. Turkey, Dalaman.. here I come!
Just think before you post, please. Are you seriously under the impression that the rest of the world goes to school for 365 days straight? Also you go to school so you can get a job to have money to have that "good life" so don't start going around telling kids that education isn't important.
For us school starts in February for 8 weeks, then 3 week break, term 2 for 12 weeks, 2 week break, term 3 for 8 weeks, 2 week break, term 4 for 8 weeks, then 6 weeks off before the next year starts again. That's a little over 3 months off, not including public holidays and teacher-free days. At the end of the year that 6 week stretch is more then enough time to "relax".
My post was not questioning what you would do with that 3 months, it was questioning how it was deemed "beneficial" to give students their entire holiday all in a single lump-sum and the rationale behind it. Hence my statement about the heat, because our summers get much worse so that can't be a reason. Why summer off and not winter? When it snows having winter off instead seems like a much better idea to me. Not to mention that realistically the majority of those kids aren't going to touch a textbook during that entire 3 months, so how is it beneficial for their studies? Won't the first few weeks of every year be catching-up on shit they forgot from last year?
I don't break off until another 2 weeks D:
But once I'm off i'll probably just be out or staying in and relaxing.
