    What is your sleeping patterns?

Recently I have gotten into Twitch, and just became a public Volunteer on the support forums and such, so I do spend alot of time on Twitch. I came to realize though that there is a great amount of people that I prefer to watch that only stream during the night, so I decided to try a new sleeping schedule.

    Spoiler:

    Sunday
    Sleep 3:00 am - 6:45 AM - 3h 45m
    Wake 6:45 AM - 3:00 PM - 8h 15m
    Sleep 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - 2h
    Wake 5:00 PM - 3:00 AM - 10h

    Monday
    Sleep 3:00 am - 6:45 AM - 3h 45m
    Wake 6:45 AM - 3:00 PM - 8h 15m
    Sleep 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - 2h
    Wake 5:00 PM - 3:00 AM - 10h

    Tuesday
    Sleep 3:00 am - 6:45 AM - 3h 45m
    Wake 6:45 AM - 3:00 PM - 8h 15m
    Sleep 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - 2h
    Wake 5:00 PM - 3:00 AM - 10h

    Wednesday
    Sleep 3:00 am - 6:45 AM - 3h 45m
    Wake 6:45 AM - 3:00 PM - 8h 15m
    Sleep 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - 2h
    Wake 5:00 PM - 3:00 AM - 10h

    Thursday
    Sleep 3:00 am - 6:45 AM - 3h 45m
    Wake 6:45 AM - 3:00 PM - 8h 15m
    Sleep 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - 2h
    Wake 5:00 PM - 3:00 AM - 10h

    Friday
    Sleep 3:00 am - 6:45 AM - 3h 45m
    Wake 6:45 AM - 3:00 PM - 8h 15m
    Sleep 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - 2h
    Wake 5:00 PM - 3:00 AM - 10h

    Saturday
    Sleep 3:00 am - 6:45 AM - 3h 45m
    Wake 6:45 AM - 3:00 PM - 8h 15m
    Sleep 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - 2h
    Wake 5:00 PM - 3:00 AM - 10h

    Total sleep time: 2415 minutes ( 40.25 hours ) ( Reccommend is 56 hours )
Total wake time: 7665 minutes ( 127.75 hours ) ( Would be 112 hours if sleeping reccommend )

By this, I get around 882 hours extra to my schedule per year. This adds up to 36.75 days, or just under 5 weeks.

This sleep schedule is considered a "Polyphasic sleep", or just sleeping twice a day, everyday, on two short sleeping times.

Personally, if I actually stick to this schedule, it normally leaves me less exhausted and gives me more time in my day+night, since I enjoy being awake during all hours of the day.

Was wondering if this was 'normal', or if anyone else had a similar schedule.

Re: What is your sleeping patterns?

It's quite normal to forgo sleep when pursuing any kind of success, but consider that is never a healthy option long term.

Btw sleeping twice a day isn't usually considered polyphasic, twice a day is biphasic. I've tried many short sleeps through the day and also with two sleeps per day, which I personally preffered over multiple naps. Now though, my average day has only the one sleep. As I get fitter and train more often, I'll likely head back to sleeping once through the day with a longer rest at night.

When I was sleeping biphasic I'd usually get up 8-9am, work and train for a few hours, then eat and sleep around midday for about two hours. After my first nap I'd work some more and train. Finishing up my day and in bed asleep by around midnight. With the extra work load it really made a difference to me by having that pit stop.

Right now I get 8-10 hours sleep depending on when I call it a day, usually going to bed between 9pm and midnight, then sleeping through until I get up (ignoring night time bathroom breaks).

My sleeping pattern is terrible. On weekends it's... wake up at 5pm go to bed at 9am... on weekdays it's obviously much better, sleep 1am, wake up at 7.30am.

Mine is similar to yours sirkidd, one day oversleep and then 1 or 2 days undersleep.
I'm a sporty guy and most of the days, when I'm not recovering, I'm training.
My performance usually seems to increase after I undersleep. Weird.

I am so misinformed ):. Thanks for the hint to call it Biphasic. Ive tried multiple sleeping patterns over 3-month periods, and after sleeping with this schedule for 3months, I will say it is the best method so far.

Re: What is your sleeping patterns?

Personally I try to stick to a pretty organised sleeping schedule (random things that I may get caught up in aside). Usually it's like this:

Monday: Sleep 10pm~ wake 5am. 7 hours give or take a few minutes, naturally.
Tuesday: Sleep 11-11:30pm - wake 6:15. Usually rounds off to 6.45 or 7 hours.
Wednesday: Sleep - whenever I get tired. Wake whenever I decide to get up. :P (My day off).
    Thursday: Same as Tuesday.
    Friday: Same as Tuesday, again.
Saturday: I don't keep a sleeping pattern for Saturday. Usually go to sleep at roughly 1 AM most of the time though.
    Sunday: Same as Tuesday.

On average I never get the recommended hours. Rounds out to about 42-46 hours on average a week of sleeping time.

Re: What is your sleeping patterns?

My sleeping schedule is pretty fkd up during the last time. Way too much stress and work.
I hope it gets better in the days off after christmas when my company is closed.

Monday - Friday : Wake up at 5-6am, go to bed at 1-2am.
Saturday : Wake up at 7am, go to bed at 3am (only day in the week to party)
Sunday : Wake up at 8am, go to bet at 1am

It's extremly unhealthy and I feel heavily exhausted during the last weeks. Time for some freetime ^_^

Re: What is your sleeping patterns?

I use an app called SleepCycle to monitor my sleeping patterns. Depends on the time of day, I generally don't head to sleep until at least 12am. Shorter days are typically days when I'm in University and thus wake up earlier.

Sleep? haha. Wasting away your lives I see. I don't sleep. I pass out. Then I wake a few hours later and continue with life.

That's 1 unhealthy sleep schedule, not only are you way below a regular 7-8 hours, but because you sleep for such a short time, you are lacking the most important part of your sleep.

The only way a pattern like that works is if you do some sort of meditation during the day, because that will keep your head clear and gives the body rest.

As for my pattern, it's completely messed up, I do night shifts, so my sleep pattern since thursday:

Thursday: Wake up in the morning, go to bed around 1:00 am
Friday: Wake up around 4:00 am, stay awake until around 1:00 pm, sleep until 7:00 pm and leave for work around 10:00 pm
Saturday: Go to bed around 10:00 am, wake up around 5:00 pm, go to work around 10:00 pm
Sunday: Go to bed around 10:00 am, wake up around 2:00 pm, go to bed around 23:00 pm
Today: Woke up up around 6:00 am

Basically did 2 night shifts, and since I don't want to constantly live during the night, this is what I do to keep a reasonably normal sleeping pattern. It's seriously unhealthy though as I can just feel it in my body, even right now.

    At around Dusk 3-4 AM

My body becomes weak and I get sleepy. And basically wakes up at around Afternoon or precisely at the set of lunch breaks.

My sleeping pattern is never the same, always messed up. Try to get at least 5 hours of sleep in the night, and have an hour nap during the day.

I go to bed at 6-8 AM nowadays and tend to wake up between 4PM-5PM. 6PM only at the extremes.

Past few days I've been sleeping during the day and awake at night, but I haven't slept in about 20 hours as of now so I am hoping my sleep schedule will go back to normal and I get to sleep at a normal time tonight.
