What kind of website do people want?
I've got the funds to start up a website of any kind. I don't know what I should do though. I've created many websites before. Some successful, some not so much.
Anyways, I'd like to start a new website. Something slightly different, but something that's going to catch on, something that you guys want, something that everyone wants, something you'd tell all of your friends. Something.. awesome!
Now, can you guys tell me what you think that something is/should be?
A hiphop music site, you can learn and make cash. alot of.
Where beginning artists can share their shit, hold battles, enter cyphers etc to go higher up the ranking. Pay for extra publicity around our site etc, like a myspace but then just personalized for hiphop artists etc.
-You can let them:
-Pay for advertising around the site.
-The site themed goodies, clothing etc.
-Premium subscriptions with benefits.
-Let producers open shops where they can sell their beats and receive a comission on them (Like 10% or W/E.)

Whatever you do, do NOT make a forum. I've seen many attempts fail.
Hip-hop music community. Elaborate. Like, how would it be. For example, like a forum kind of thing, or a cms of some sort?
& Oh god, creating new forums these days is so hard. There's loads and loads of everything already out there now. It's pointless in my opinion.
They're only good for if you've already got a main website/community, and you simply need a message board.

Very nice. It's a pretty good idea. Isn't there already several websites like this already though? It's a good idea. Not what I was expecting in general, but I'd expect an idea like this from you of course. Regardless, I like how it sounds. I'd look into doing this if others thought it was a good idea and would join and submit some of their work to the community also.

one's known alot = letsbeef.com but the cms is rather sucky and there's alot of hacking and leeching going on there. There arent too much sites like this.

besides, people for once could learn sometihng and develop their talents instead of spend the whole day posting shit n trollin like i do here.
You'd add categories for each thing, since a battle is a test of skill, and therefore does not always have to be about eachother, which hasnt been seen yet,we'd have educational content next to the crapy braggy new-age shit.
Alright, I just went to that website and it was full of trash. I listened to one battle and the first guy said "I'll Pop you like a pimple, and slice your throat with a pencil.".. LOLWTF. & he sounds like me also. lmfao.
I had a porn site up for a while. youporn rip off. Got so much traffic I had to stop, because I couldn't afford the bandwidth. Over 100k hits a week after being up for only 1 month.

I'd do a video website, but they're way to common. Wouldn't make any money off of that.
Usually a unique niche can't be found just by asking random people.
I'd personally say just make a website that interests you, and eventually a user base will grow.

I'm really not all for starting from scratch right now, though, if all goes well, in the future for sure we'll have our own system.

There are CMSes around there, powered on Joomla, wordpress and a few hacks for VBulletin.
You'll just have to look in to them.
Here's what's going to happen, you'll either make something which everyone likes, in which case you'll get mega rich (rare) or
You'll make some shitty site, which is a rip off / already exists / isn't unique / which you will get bored with, have already paid for a year for the domain and the hosting package, at which point you'll realize you never want to do it again... then 1 year later, repeat because you think things have changed and you have a better idea.
Trust me, it's not worth your time.
That's just common sense. If I didn't try, what'd be the benefit of being a webmaster?
