All right, good luck.
I don't think so, I think the money comes from Amazon. You could be right tho.

Is the Bank Obligated to Refund Stolen Money From My Debit Card? - Budgeting Money
Re: What to do if I've been scammed online?
What should I do if the bank asks me various questions? Like how did this person manage to gain access to your bank details... etc

I think you shouldn't lie and just tell them what happened.

As Amazon said, you probably need to sign some papers. Some of these are probably how it happened etc. If they turn out to be false and you signed it, you could be in trouble.
@Solaire - thanks, didn't know that.

I don't really like lying anyway as I'm a terrible liar (lol). I hope they don't ask questions and just tell me to fill out paperwork though, if I'm lucky enough that's all I'll need to do.
Edit:
I think I'll tell them the truth.
Re: What to do if I've been scammed online?
As said above: Lying isn't really going to work so you should just tell the truth instead which you are in this case and that is really good of you.
I think that being scammed is being took very serious and i know that because I've had the same thing but not with Amazon in this case but i do think that this is being took really serious and that there is action to be taken on this as well as getting your money / item back.
Re: What to do if I've been scammed online?
After reading these last few posts, I am kinda amazed you were even thinking of lying, but maybe you just do not understand the gravity of something like that. Lying to a bank about stolen credit/ debit transactions isn't just a small thing, even in the case of money that is rightfully yours. Ever heard of fraud? That is what you would of committed, plain and simple. If ever anyone found out (which cmon, banks and financial institutions PAY people to find stuff like this out), you wouldn't just lose the money, you would be put on financial probation, have to serve community service, and probably see yourself in prison for a few years. In the United States fraud is labeled as a felony, and this same type of classification is given world wide.
Answer any question to the fullest truth, do not edge or slant your answers, even if it means you lose the money this time. It simply is not worth it. You sound like a decent guy, I really doubt you want something like "Fraud" labeled on your record for the rest of your life just because you wanted to get a few hundred pounds back.

Cry for 5 hours then do something about it?

You've done a good job of scaring me lol. Heading down to the bank when it opens in a few hours and speak to them about it. If they ask certain questions I'm definitely going to be truthful. I'm not absolutely certain I'll get my money back, like Amazon said, but I don't want to take any risks, I need to come out clean, incase the bank looks deep into it and find out it wasn't just an "unauthorised payment"
Re: What to do if I've been scammed online?
Why you did not use PayPal?

Well there's your first clue...
P.S. Can't believe you even thought about committing fraud to a bank. How old are you man? You need to be a bit more wiser if you're taking on big boy problems, such as, you know... money.

Well sorry I don't know everything.
Thing is, for me, purchasing/selling things online have always been easy for me. I've been purchasing items online for about 2 years now and I have never come across a problem like this, so I don't really know how to deal with it, I don't have experience. I've always been using eBay and relying on the feedback system to see whether sellers are genuine or not. Thought I'd give Gumtree a try since I've sold items on there before but this was the first time I 'purchased' something from there. Unlucky me.

*Note: He probably did that whole "buy me an Amazon Card" thing in order to lower his chances of getting caught. I never accept any other payment besides Western Union or Cash, with a rare exception of Paypal if I know the guy. It is simply too hard to catch fraudulent people with other services.
So I only accept Paypal , that means I can be scammed easily right? That's a downer. But what else is there , that people can pay without being scammed as a web designer? Not too many options out there.

If someone scams you using Paypal they will never be able to access Paypal until they die.
