I have no idea

Even though the UK had the train bombings shortly after 9/11, despite having already seen precedent for terrorist-attacks, I'd still have to go with the UK on "what is safer". Great thanks to the recent increase in military funding of "Non-Lethal-Weapons" (in other words, potentially non-lethal, sort of like how a bullet might not kill you). And the fact that these weapons are being actively used against protesters (see 2007 Free Trade protest in New York, and how police broke it up).

UK has no guns :S
I'd have to go with US.. UK has those wacky football fans ..
Anyway, I will move to US in a few years I think.. still don't know what state tough .. maybe new york ? california ? florida ? no idea ..
Well firstly it would depend on what part you live in and "safety" more than often depends on the individual in question.
Well where does all the gun shooting happend? Where some crazy dude gets a gun and start shooting every living thing in his school.
Certainly not uk =o
I say UK even though I live in Canada. Reason you ask? US has a lot of smokers witch pollutes our air. An also they have a lot of over weight people. UK is better :D. I think UK has a lot has more rites. But Canada is the best for life :D. Unless George Bush comes to Canada and kills us because we are better :D.
Actually I voted for USA, I understand the crime rate is through the roof, but when you think about it, that's usually in major cities, also with that amount of people it probably works out level with the U.K, or even less! I doubt anyone ever had the time to work it out, considering you would have to look at census, crime rate, crimes per annum, etc.
I've seen those; although America isn't on the top ten in the worst criminal case countries in the world, it still beats the UK... and has more people in prison to this day than many other countries.
Go live in Johannasburg [sp] :o
1. USA has guns.
2. USA has more terrorism than UK. Note how all terrorists are anti American, not anti UK.
3. USA still has guns.
Does not matter how strict their gun laws are in the USA, people can still buy them. Yes the "Dangerous" people may not be allowed to get them, but they know where you live. And if you have a gun, they will break into your house and get it if they really want to. As long as the public has access to them, i do not see how it can be safe.
I definitely vote UK. Though i prefer Australia any day.
@ #1
So does the UK.
@ #2
Train bombings. Terrorist most certainly are anti-UK.
@ #3
Guns aren't the killers, people are. (e.g., Jack the Ripper)
UK has Glasgow and other cities.
America has hunting wih allows people to have guns to shoot deer etc...
Or people
Unless all you guys have lived in both, in every state and stuff, then your opinion is biased, since you have it from one point of view.
Or we could just look at statistical surveys, which are in abundance, to review crime rates, histories of violence, etc.
Serious gun crime up in the UK - Blogger News Network
US. Seen the videos & actually the people there. That is where mafian stays!
why cant we all move to canada >.> safe as hell
any ways usa were i live it's like 1 shooting a day so i would not say usa is safe and also every stupid moron with a gun is protected by the first - right to bear arm's crap and there is the NRA who is all high on drugs to back up these morons. they wont even allow states to pass laws so that if you gun gets lost or stolen you have to report it so i would have to say uk cause of less morons
Hmm. In mind I was thinking about " Zombie Thingyz " =) So USA is still safer!
@ Jessin
It's the second amendment that guarantees one the right to bear arms. Not the first.
As to members of the NRA... virtually none of them take drugs, as their rules & regulations forbid them from taking drugs & being a member.
As to people shooting each other... guess what; if you took away their guns, then they would be stabbing each other. If somebody wants to kill another person... they are going to find a way to do it. It isn't the gun that kills, it is the person pulling the trigger.
To make it known that a large population owning firearms doesn't result in violence... take my home state for example: Michigan. Here in Michigan, we have the largest militia in the world, and a massive number of gun freaks who own weapons of various sorts. With that said, we still have fewer gun crimes than states with stricter gun laws.
Bad statistics taint gun control debate - Opinion
Even so, the US is still pretty dangerous... and I'd rather live elsewhere.
This isn't something that is debatable, as safety is a relative term. If I lived in a bomb shelter in the USA would I be safer than if I lived normally in the UK?
No. Somebody could open the door to get to you, or the door get stuck shut & you starve to death. ^^
Heheh, I know what you mean, Kaoii. This is more of an opinionated, and unarguable point. I've read about kids in the UK who snapped and killed their families over getting grounded, and in the US we have people snap and go nuts at their schools, because they can't handle bullying or won't seek help.
