We don't know what will happen in the future, it can be something that we can't even imagine.

tbh in 1990 ppl said in the year 2002 we would be travelling via spaceships, and everything would be futuristic.
with in those 12 years nothing had changed in fact things have got worse as in the community were i live definetly has.

so if anyhitng in 100years dont expect all hi-tech gadgets and gizmos, just expect the place u now live in will be yet another shithole on the map.

we will be as we are now just maybe a lil worse off.

Have you seen the rate technology is advancing? In 100 years we will definitely have alot more futuristic devices, alternative fuels, anyone who disagrees is a noob

Until another revolutionary device like the transistor is invinted, I don't think we'll see a massive acceleration in technology for a while. We'll need to get a grip of superconductivity or something in order to progress much further will electrical technology.

We're currently limited by our silicon microprocessors, but loads of technologies are in the pipeline. None of them fit the budget of today's companies or are not fully developed ideas, also silicon is too cheap (it is made from sand after all).

Who knows, maybe they will invent something that makes people live over 100 years old on average, anything more than 200 years old and it will overpopulate Earth too much.

The world's becoming over-populated as it is, if the average life expectancy rose from 77 to 100, it would cause big over-crowding problems for the world. Especially in places like Japan, China and India, which are packed as it is. Life expectancy will rise though, as it has been over the last century or so. Eee, who knows what'll happen.

I guess the best way to see how the world will be tomorrow is to go to sleep and find out in the morning :).

The earth is already over populated if they could design such a thing it would be cool tho.

processors speed doubles every 2 years i think

that will continue for awhile, eventualy it will be impossible, soon they will have to use mirrors to etch circuit boards, these mirrors have to be PURFECT, less imprefections than the worlds purfect mirror, used in 1 of the telescopes and will also have to be VERY cheap

least if they wanna keep getting better they will increase our vision of the galaxy/universe

but i still think the biggest invension between 2000 and 3000 will be nano technology, that of harnessing the power of quarks and quantium stuff :), either of them things i hope im researching in like 5 years :icon6:

They have made a start on that, they found a drug that makes the life of mice 25% biger BUT it only works on male mice and causes them diabetes. It is said that when its ready to be used on humans it will firstly be used on the elderly, and then on the rest of the age-population.That means a lot, 25% of what is an 80 years average

That would mean average age of death would be 100 years old.

Guys, in 10-20 years time we will have for got that the world is going too blow up and eventually we will be the old people sitting at home in rocking chairs talking instead of on forums waiting for the world too blow up or in someway kill us all ! The world should stop worrying about poverty and that shit I know its important but I would rather focus on ALL of us than not just the poor people.... Heh soo I think the government should really think about other things not just in the box lol... THINK OUT OF THE BOX GOVERNTMENT lol..... As for the ideas of taking off into space will never work... No rockets can be launched into space atm anyway cos we cant be botherd too build any new ones soo then u know what happens ? People die coming back (RIP SPACEMEN) Soo really think about whats happening around you and considder everything before you post...

The number of transistors on a chip is meant to double every 18 months (Moore's Law), however, the wavelengths that they are currently using to etch them onto the silicon can't be improved much. Intel are looking to release a processor which uses 193nm waves to create the patterns on the chip in the next 2 years. However, our current lens technology (which can't really get much better) will only allow companies to keep improving speeds for the next 10 years.

Either carbon nanotubes or EUVL (Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography) will need to be fully developed in order to keep Moore's Law a constant.

And also, between 2000 and 3000 is one thousand years, not 100 ;)

Just to let you know, the US Military have already invented Laser Guns the size of a standard fridge to be mounted on their fighter jets.

A new gene was discovered recently that can be described as "anti ageing gene", technology is moving much faster than you think it is, we're not limited by silicon microprocessors, we don't need something as revolutionary as the transistor, nasa are already working on personal "flying vehicles".

You forget that these laser guns, the panels which control them and also these so-called "flying vechicles" will all run off silicon microprocessors, and until a better way of creating these chips is invented, I don't think technology will expand as fast as it has been.

I explained that technologies which we aren't fully clued up on are in the pipeline, and prototypes are being developed (namely by government organisations like the DoD and NASA), but they aren't cost effective yet due to the methods employed to create them being far too expensive.
