Seriously gaming laptops are an oxymoron. A laptop needs lower end gear with very good energy efficiency, that's what they are made for. Putting in a normal C2D and stupidly powerful GFX card is just going to kill the battery if you try to take it anywhere, not to mention it makes it a ton weight.

If you game, use a desktop. If you need something portable to do work on, get a cheap laptop and spend the rest of the money on desktop upgrades.

As for the laptop itself, let me tell you a few things.
First of all a laptop has major advantages, even if you have a battery that is drained within the hour when you use it for games, the advantage being that you can take it everywhere, whether it applies for him or not, there are lots of people who stay on campus or something like that during the week, and go home during the weekend and vacations, do you suggest they should take a big ass comp with them?
Second gamer laptops can really play games, i don't know where you all got this crap from, but you got gamer laptops with real CPU's and GPU's (i'm not talking about mobile versions), there are laptops who can pretty much max out Crysis, so don't say laptops can't do this stuff, because they can.
Third, yes laptops are more expensive and can't be really upgraded, but they use less power, they are easier to put away etc etc. Personally i bought a laptop because i didn't want a big ass noisy desktop in my livingroom.


There are plenty of reasons to get a laptop, even a gamer laptop, whether you still think it's a good deal or not is upto you, but stop bitching about it and claiming it's shit, as i'm guessing that laptop is more powerful then most of the shit you people have at home.
