World War II - Your views

These past months I have been very intrested in World War II, i'm not sure why but im fascinated in every aspect of it. Watching all the films makes it even clearer and more enjoyable to learn about. From reading about the secret meetings between the Nazi's and The Red Army - to the UK nearlly alliancing with the Nazi germany reigene. To the failer of Market Garden to the disastrious battle of Stalingrad.

I could go on and on, even annoying co-workers as Its all i talk about

    - film refrences to look at

    Stalingrad - German PoV
A bridge to Far - Market Garden - UK USA German PoV
Band of Brothers - 10 episode mini series
    Windtalkers - USA Japan
    When Trumpets Fade
    Downfall
    Defiance
valkyrie - if only this plan worked, alot of lives would of been saved
The Diary of Anne Frank - 5 part BBC drama, still on BBC iplayer - catch it while you can

What are your views and intrests?

I admire how Hitler gained so much popularity and how good he was at manipulating with people. I think that when Hitler controlled most of europe, U.S.A could had stepped in, but they waited till Pearl Harbor. I wonder why Hitler didn't walk into Sweden, while lots of jews from Denmark fleed to Sweden..

Indeed. As I remember, Poland had many more jews than Denmark, so I think that Hitler didn't put it as a first prioity to kill all jews in Denmark, but in bigger amounts in bigger countries. Poland!

And thats sick. I believe that Hitler also was half jew or something. Twisted person.

Yes, I remember watching a documentary a while ago.. "Half-Jews" was allowed, but had a few rights denied, but "regulair-jews" were denied all.. Hitler allowed "half-jews" to join the military etc, but people assume that if Hitler have had won WW2, he would exterminate the "half-jews" too.

History repeats itself, compare Post World War 2 Germany to the Current USA and you will find that we are exactly almost the same conditions. From what I have learned, Hitler had a lot of views and opinions that that lured people after him, taxing only the rich, working right with the people along side them for a better world, social medical reform, etc. All of this sounds a lot like today, and with more than 200 million desperate souls craving a dollar or the forgiveness of debt, ill say that if todays current government ascends to total fascism regime then its an easy transition over from the false socialistic dictatorship we have today.

PLEASE, be critical to movies. So many of them are incredibly biased and directly wrong.

I recommend Flammen & Citronen. It's a danish movie about two danes working as hitmen in the danish resistance force. It's incredible. One of the best movies I've seen, and I've seen a lot of movies.

Der Untergang (Downfall) is a must. It's probably one of the most historically accurate movies ever made of WWII and gives a good picture of how Hitler really was.

I can recommend those movies too, since I've seen both.

But yeah. Movies can be very wrong on the story line compared to the real story.

Don't be too confused about him, he was a politician that was really need at that point, at that moment Germany had some serious problems, Hitler was a socialist/nationalist, he gave people equal rights, he got the trading with Germany back etc. There are many things he did that were actually good, i mean we recently changed our health care system, but the majority wants it back to the system that was implemented under Nazi regime.
Also his ideas on Jews in the begin stages weren't that weird, the fact is that the Jews had most of the economy in hands, pretty much all the banks belonged to them etc etc, if this hadn't happened then the Jews would be in control by now.

Hitler did terrible things, but his political views weren't that bad, he just went to the extreme to execute them.

Ah. Thanks, I just learned something!

But as I recall from my religion classes, weren't jews the scapegoat of horrible things? I think to recall that they were acused of "making" the plague.

I honestly don't remember, i never really looked much into those things, i mostly checked the political views and the economy (the last mostly because the Jews had such a major control over it)

I still think the reason Hitler gained power so fast, was due to the fact he was a fucking amazing speaker (Not saying it in a good way) And he was also, one of the first leader to use fear in propaganda.

When Hitler was first introduced to the Nazi party - was called something different not sure on the name, he did a speach infront of a small crowd, he couldnt control them, he was laughed at basicly

He took lessons on how to be a speaker by a jewish theatre expert at the time (he didnt say tht he was jewish ofcourse) and taught him how to do the famous speaches you can see - all staged - the public didnt really know the true voice of hitler

Yeah. He managed a lot by that. Its a powerfull thing, when you speak and make people do what you tell them because you play with their fear.

I read the list of what Hitler put out before he came to power and what he planned to do, hell I'd have voted for it no questions asked considering what kind of shit the German's were in at the time. Fact is he was a highly intelligent man and if it wasn't for him we may not have some of the things as developed as we have now. Thank God the UK are so damn awesome eh? ;-) (jokes :P.. kinda)

EDIT: It's annoying me now, I read in a history book during the library at college one rainy day about a man who worked closely with and under Hitler who kept a diary, admitting (well it seemed that way to me and a lot of other people) his 'admiration' for Hitler.

Really? On my senior year for AP European History, We studied Hitlers life, such as life/love/theory's/Conspiracy/mistake/background. In one section, we watched all known Hitler's speeches, And if that was all staged, I'll be dammed. Cause he was good. we also studied a bit of Mussolini, Who Hitler admired, He was also known as a brilliant speaker.
