I was recently thinking that all the songs on my computer are just the same boringness pieces of shit. I've listened to them over thousands of times. So i was thinking perhaps someone that has experienced being a DJ online or in RL. And has nice shoutcast experiences to produce one. Ofcourse you would need a full online music license so your not taken down. I've been searching around for radio's and most of them are shit. Few I've came across keep changing there name n addresses.

Would anyone here be up for it?

Thing with the dedi server is that it would need like a AutoDJ, or it could just be hosted by someone's computer. The cookies would be your normal price of a supermarket. And the music license you could google that ^.^

Actually, I used to organise RageZoneRadio for a while, years ago. Problem with that was that I didn't have the money for a dedicated server and hosting on my computer didn't really work either due to slow upload.

Untill you can find someone with a lot of bandwith available this is not going to happen I fear :smile:

If you -can- find someone with a lot of bandwith it's not a problem at all, in my time there used to be loads ot people who wanted to DJ etc :smile:

I've even bugged fragfrog a few times on msn to bring back RZ radio, but again it needs dedicated hosting and that costs money, its very hard to keep something running when its bringing in no income.

Well i aint making enough income myself after thinking of the idea, I'm saving up for a new rig instead at the moment. The best way would be to do the previous idea and was to make a network of volenteers, only problem last time was they didn't keep there end of the bargain.

If we could get Kaoii to put up an announcement that anyone who could host the RZ FM in return for 3 or so months subscription would be great.

Well my upload is 512kb and my download is 4mb apprently. Thing is i could host it but i would need a full license. And i have no money to get it. With a 512KB upload you can carry around 15-30 listeners.

Infact coming to think of it, I could be that jerk.

My current A3 server will be down when I leave for the UK in October and that system will be running free. The damn thing handles 1000 concurrency. Shouldnt be a problem hosting music on it.

As for 512Kbit upload: thats just about enough for 5 listeners, not 15. It's a simple devision: 512 / 5 = ~100Kbit / listener, meaning you could stream at 96Kbit. Using a VBR codec such as OGG this is the bare minimum for any decent quality sound.

For DJ'ing etc I actually already wrote a website back then where people could request songs and people could volunteer to be a DJ and schedule DJ time. Had a lot of good rock and metal playing, as well as some stuff like RageZone news (which most couldn't understand from what I heared, but it was still fun to do ). Hell, we even had a lot of jingles :icon6:

The point is, if anyone offers a good 10Mbit or faster server with ShoutCast / IceCast / Whatever I'd be more than willing to organise the rest and get a DJ system running. But untill that happens, the whole relaynetwork is just too fragile and too much work so there is no way it could work.

Well guy I have my Pc wich is pretty good and dont use it alot it just there.. playing games some times but sill... it just sits there..

I had a radio show through Ice Cast on Ogg i think... it was going pretty good there...

That's pretty sweet an idea. I myself know a couple of people who are pretty great at Mixcraft and Sound Forge. It's not like you'll need like real DJ Remixes on songs. As long as the flow is present - I dont think taking those people up for work should be bad.

If 10Mbit is all you're asking for - I see something shaping up here. I do have an amazing system and an ISP too. But my server is running on it currently and the system will get free in the second week of October and I could put it to use on RZ.

Over this course of 2 months - we could try and collect the songs and etc to be uploaded and some initial remixes to start off wid. And if possible and if anyone has the time - we could also do some live streaming. Ooh.. That's gonna be soo good. Like a virtual Radio Station.
