Dunno what exactly you mean but here ya go.

What is the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor?

    Code:
Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor is a downloadable web application that helps Windows XP users identify which edition of Windows Vista meets their needs, whether their PCs are ready for an upgrade to Windows Vista, and which features of Windows Vista will be able to run on their PCs. The end result is a report that explains which edition of Windows Vista to buy and provides suggestions about what, if any, hardware updates may be necessary to install and run the appropriate edition and features of Windows Vista. Running Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor is a great first step for anyone considering whether to install Windows Vista on a PC they already own.

    Link : Microsoft

Other than that found this, but that's built into vista... Cnet

He means the Windows Experience Index rating. Dunno where you would find something like that for XP.

Re: XP's version of a 'vista rating'

Just happened to stumble upon this and remembered u were asking for something like this.

Download details: Windows Vista Hardware Assessment

In case the link doesn't work, its a "Windows Vista Hardware Assessment"

The Windows Vista Hardware Assessment is a tool that will find computers on a network and perform a detailed inventory of the computers using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Through use of the detailed inventory data, the tool will assess and report whether the computers can run Windows Vista or the 2007 Microsoft Office system, where to find drivers for devices on the computers, and provide recommendations for hardware upgrades, where appropriate.
Dunno if it's what you were after, but hope it helps.

Do you mean a program that rates your computer? Cause if you do, you can just Google it.

That check's if your equipment can run Vista, he's talking about the Windows Experience Index which gives you a score from 1.0 to 5.0 grading all your hardware and how well it performs for certain tasks.

Re: XP's version of a 'vista rating'

OMG didnt realise i wasent clear enough. Yeah sik is right im talking about the grade that your computer gets from windows vista. I was wondering if XP had an equivilant. My computer used to be rated 4.2 entirly because i had a rubbish processor (3800+ single core).

I'm now useing a core 2 duo six thousand something, 2 gig of ram at 633mhz and a 8600 GTS 512mb gfx card. That should up my computer rating well into the 5's.

I've had a good search but cant find anything. If anyone has a similar rig to this could you let me know what your rating is?

EDIT: That download only works for XP pro users. The only copy of windows that i had near me at the time was XP home. Guess ill have to wait till i get my copy of vista back!
