    Ninja grab bug

    Main problem I'm having is when I use Ninja's E (grab) in both Awakened/Preawakened the grab target disappear from my screen/minimap in both PvP/PvE like they just cease to exist, then appeared again after some time.

    I saw that skill problem is still common but I'm not sure if I'm the only one getting this bug so I would like to confirm this with community.

    I may have overlooked something because I just start 2 days ago to play around with my friend, if so please forgive my ignorance.

    What I have done with my files are:
    1. Download and run BDO Server Files by DevilSpeak.
    2. Use client by OgreFest (Before latest patch that use Korean client).
    3. Configure server's properties to match my preferences.
    4. Later updated to DNC's version and currently using it.

    I find that grapple problem is there in both DevilSpeak and DNC version.

    If this is not known bug and no fixes yet I will try to test it with other class that have grapple or maybe try to fix it when I'm available.

    In the error log no line seem to relate (only have lines that says "Template does not exist for xxx item id!!!!").



    I'm sure I did not overlook any line as this log file only has 100ish lines.

    But console log show these:



    Which should be Event log when I press the skill. (GrabThrow should be pre-awaken grab and FastSmash is awakened grab)

    To clarify: the game works fine in both client and server, nothing crashed. But this impact the whole point of the skill if I can't grapple someone.

    from the log we saw that GrabThrow skill works (Start, Catch_Go, Throw) ...but Target info 0-1-0 i didn't know what its mean atm :(

    I am certain that this affect all grapple skill.
    I tested with a warrior and a striker and result is the same.

    Because of this experiment I am now sure that number behind Targets ([825152026 Targets 0]) is number of monster(s) that was damaged by that skill state when comparing with warrior log.

    Now what I want to know is, anyone else get this bug like mine?

    i would like to see what is the definition of "Target" for the skill inside gameserver code, the log shows Target 0, 1, and 2. i 'll be back after my research...

    i will try and simulate your error on my setup and try to fix it (i wish i can...) xD see you later...

    Thank you for your time! I'm doing experiment and diving into source code myself.

    By the way, if you look closely at warrior gif above, you will notice that:
    - Initial grab did connect and deal 8 damage to grab target.
    - Grab target disappear midway of the smash, but AoE still connect on 2 targets around the area dealing damage to them.

    This is where I'm convinced that "Target" for the skill mean how many monster it hit in "FrameEventIndex".
    - (Unsure) Target 0 mean no monster is affect by the skill, this should be an initial state of skill that no damage has been done yet at frame 0
    - Target 1 mean that initial grab is success and deal damage to grab target at frame 1.
    - Target 2 mean that AoE of GrabSmash deal damage to 2 monsters beside grab target at frame 4, because grab target disappeared midway.

    If my assumption is true, then this log won't help us at all because it doesn't log when no damage has been done in the same "FrameEvent" (Skipped from frame 1 to log frame 4 of "AttackSkill" FrameEvent).

    And FYI creating other account (Auto-registration) doesn't fix this. But I found out that sometimes grab did connect all the way to ground smash and target never disappear on lesser monsters (Beetle, Fox, Wolf).

    Will experiment more after this.

    My latest experiment shows that it isn't 100% that grab target will disappear.

    Here's the statistic data with video (maybe processing) if you want to take a look:

    Pre-awakened Grab 8 times
    Success 1 times
    Failed 7 times

    Awakened Grab 6 times
    Success 2 times
    Failed 4 times

    I'm starting to think this is server's spec problem, I will try to find new environment to run the server on but I'll be gone for some time. See you later!

    So, after some time into experimenting with new server with higher specs (CPU, Higher RAM) and playing around with server properties I can say that the problem is within the server code (or client code). Not certainly sure but i think that's it because I tried everything I can without having to touch the code.

    What I've tried:
    1. Move server files to new environment and run it.
    2. Run server in new environment with default properties.
    3. Make changes to server properties file that I think it's related to the problem even network packet size.
    4. Re-download client from torrent release because my old client was download directly from OgreFest.
    5. Connect to other people's server to test using same client.

    And all of them still return same problem. But what make me curious is that other people's server have high chance that the grab target never disappear. I know for sure that they use high-end server but nothing else.

    If I have time I will try to understand the code, but for now I think I'll rest a bit.
