Re: Could someone unpack these files (PERMISSION GIVEN)
No one can unpack them without Gunz.exe. Since you didn't include it because you don't have it, it can't be done.

That actually can be wrong. It depends on you're level of programming, but if you know enough of the .mrs file format and encryption you can find out the decryption algorithm.

which majority use the executable to find it, which is 10x easier than guessing

Huh, no. From what it seems it's not a simple encryption change. It's not static byte manipulation either. It's impossible to take an encrypted piece of data, and decrypt it with only the data; unless it's static byte manipulation or a well known encryption method.
I'll repeat, unless you have the Gunz.exe(or the mrs.exe they used to encrypt), no one here will be able to decrypt it.

Re: Could someone unpack these files (PERMISSION GIVEN)
Hello there,
- If all you want is Kidd's sets, I think you're out of luck because I think he never gave us most of them.
- If you still want the "unpacked' files talk to me on msn, I have added you. but...
- Sadly I have lost alot of my files from the "EpicGamerz-era". I reformat every half-year and I only kept backups of my source code/projects.
- There used to be this private client called the "Dev client" that did not use any protection, I think I still have it somewhere burned into a dvd or something, but theres a slim chance I still have it, but probably some others still have it.

The public one? If I can make the game run I can get the "decrypted" files easily...
Now I need to register the Flash ActiveX component somehow.. cuz the launcher was never designed to run in windows 7 64bit

yea the public, the launcher starts but it gives a couple errors, since the server its supposed to connect to is gone.
Though its in the op to.

The error i get right now is not because of the update server is offline, but because the interface the launcher used was designed in flash and it cant find the flashplayer component (flash player 9), i remember it told u the server was offline after it drew the main window

"The launcher could not connect to the internet"
"Error 103 - contact support supply for this number"
Then a whole lot of stuff for system.net.webexception

Yes thats it.
Would have been easier if i didnt obfuscate the binary... Hmm.. I'll see if I can find the source code.

Re: Could someone unpack these files (PERMISSION GIVEN)
Btw if anyone is interested.. the .ntz files in Misc are where the real mrs files are stored... the man/woman/etc outside the Misc files are actually dummies... Due to time constraints and other reasons I had to think up of a new way to protect mrs files, i figured if no one but I knew how this method worked then it would take a long time for someone to figure it out, long enough till the next client release with the true mrs encryption, which we never got to.. It was encrypted with a key that nabtrap got from the update server which was later decrypted with a static key and then used to decrypt all the dat.ntz files and move em to the real locations before gunz loaded.. Once nabtrap detected gunz was finished using the files (past loading screen) it would switch them back with the dummies. If the files were somehow left in an unencrypted state and not switched back with the dummies, the launcher would switch them back (lol) before doing the cycle over again.
So.. in-short.. If you can get the launcher to start the game (I doubt it by now, update server is like .. dead?) quickly kill the gunz/nabtrap/launcher process before gunz finishes loading.. then the files are left unencrypted.. easy as that lol
The next epicgunz client 7 (never released) or w.e it was gonna be.. had that assembly edit on the gunz.exe, more like what T6 is used to.

Amazing.
Someplayer.. wow..
I don't know what to say.
I'm so glad to see you're doing well.
Thanks for adding me and helping us out.
I have added you as well.
Yeah, I only want Kidd's Sets.
This post made me think you have them. http://www.gamerzplanet.net/forums/1378171-post62.html
As nobody else has them, the Epic GunZ Client is my last chance.

Re: Could someone unpack these files (PERMISSION GIVEN)
Bump.
Paul (Exiled Hero) found the epic dev client on his mobile internet. Now he can't find it on a PC. .__.
