Like a game designer, they give credits to the people who helped make the game. If they hadent given credit they could be sued or even shutdown. (Not saying he can be sued but he can be called a stealing faggot)

Source Code or not enough skills and you will be able to create a gunz server.
First check out the protocol just trace the packets see what happens etc with it ofcouse asm.
make a easy doc with the protocol for yourself
make a function to encrypt/decrypt the client/server packets
and start creating the server.
and still source code learn asm and you sould be able to change the old matchserver to work with the new gunz client.
or even add extra stuff.
Although having a source code sould make it more easy ;).
