Support Forwarded ports but they are still closed.

So I'm trying to host a server, got the "cannot access server" error. Figured it was because of the fact that the ports weren't forwarded. I forward the ports and try again, still the same (By the way, it doesn't matter if I type in the correct username and password or not; it gives me the same error after waiting for about 30 seconds). I went to canyouseeme.org and it said on all ports I tested:

Error: I could not see your service on blah blah on port (7777)
    Reason: Connection refused

I tried using this one program called SPI Port Forward that actually got my ports opened, but I got a runtime error every time I tried to execute MatchServer.exe.
I deactivated firewall, though I'm not sure if I've got to do anything else with it other than just disabling it. Also, I'm perfectly sure all my other settings are fine, since the server shows up in the login screen and I can connect using the localhost IP.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Is my MatchServer.exe corrupted, despite the fact that it works when the port forwarding software is not running? (canyouseeme.org no longer detected the ports as open when I closed the program) Maybe there's a problem with my router?

I've been able to host a server before, having forwarded my ports on the same router I'm using right now; so I'm clueless at the moment.

On my new router, I cannot port forward, just depends on your router.

So, there is no solution? Note that I'm on the same router on which I was able to host a server before.

    Which ports are you forwarding?

    I'm forwarding 6000, 5100, 7777-7778, 8900 and 9000 all on TCP/UDP.

I don't know if DMZ works but I got that enabled too.

I also have this problem but with the Locator (port 6011) instead of the server. :(
Would love some suggestions so that Dante and myself may be able to get this issue resolved. :)
I hope it's not a router problem but I don't see how it could be if the other programs's ports are opened successfully.

You would normally have access to your router settings if you login into it. Then you port forward from there. But as Chris said, it depends on the router.

I can log onto my router and forward my ports. My ports are supposedly open. My MatchServer and MatchAgent ports are open but my Locator port is refusing connections.

Ok, so I noticed that after resetting the router to factory settings, the ports still didn't work, but having DMZ disabled, the server won't show up on the list. So I have to keep it enabled. I guess ports must be working after all, despite of what it says at canyouseeme.org.

I don't have DMZ host enabled and it doesn't show up. If you still can't connect then the ports are still closed. DMZ host is meant to open all ports for the host computer. Maybe our routers just don't like hosting a GunZ private server.

It's weird, because the router I'm using now is the same I used when I hosted a server 2 years ago. Though I remember having a lot of trouble making it work.

Enable all ports through firewall settings.

I did that yesterday but it's still not working. Shame, I'm running out of ideas but I know there's a solution.

    Hi,

I have the exact same problem with my router, but I found a program online and tested it and it worked for me. Its called SPI PortForward, here is a link give it a try a "http://download.cnet.com/SPI-Port-Forward/3000-2651_4-10764348.html" all it requires is a "local Port", followed by "Remote host" being your IP, "remote port" and amount of connections. just click activate and hopefully your good to go! (this helped me to put my server online for me and my friends to just play around in)

He has tried SPI PortForward (as it says in the main post).

Thanks for the recommendation, but as I said in the post you quoted, I already tried that program and it made my MatchServer.exe crash and give a runtime error when I opened it. Might be a problem with the server files.

As far as I know it's not a problem with the server files. I downloaded and configured 2008 server files but my Locator port was still "closed" even when the ports are meant to be open.
