I have about a year to work on whatever for gross amounts of time, mostly pertaining to my laptop.
I was thinking about developing then releasing a modification for gunz which made it more similar to popular realism games like MW2 and whatnot. I would not be running the server with the mod, I would give it to someone else to run (because I've proven time and time again that I can't maintain a server while it's active)
Couple things about the mod:
- Your character would have a class, determined by you when you create your character
- Your character class determines the primary weapon you use
- As you gain levels (up to 70) you gain access to more primary/secondary/items to use
- items are extremely based on MW2, most are real items
- Primary Items are Rifle, SMG, MG, Sniper Rifle (not using the gunz 'zoom' feature), Shotgun, Rocket Launcher
- Secondaries are Auto-Pistols and Pistols
- Items are same as regular gunz, but less of them and more effective
- Yes you will still be able to use katanas and daggers, and still k-style/d-style everything
- Armor has no effect on the game, and would be based on server if it ever does, this mod will not include it but it can be added at a later date
- Bullet Strength would be halved from MW2 standards, due to the fact that you can't regenerate health in Gunz, a weapon that would normally kill you in 4 hits in MW2 would require you to hit 8 times in this Mod
- Level 1-70 would take about 6 hours of actual gameplay, 71-80 would be considered 'prestige', and would take 12 hours of additional gameplay each level up til 80.
I know this is likely going to get removed immediately or sooner since it's potential pserver talk, but let it be known that I'm not talking about a pserver in this instance, it's just a hypothetical modded gunz. Who knows, maybe it could be supported by MAIET like euro-gunz in the future.
Now to the questions:
1. Would you play such a mod? If not, what doesn't appeal to you?
2. Is there any problems with the primary weapon selection? I know that balancing shotguns and rifles is going to be an issue, don't expect shotguns to be all powerful in this version of gunz.
3. Launchers are an iffie subject since rocket launchers are not exactly the same in gunz as they are in other games. Perhaps I should just not include them?
