help!! friends cant get onto server

hi all,
i have my pserver up and have sent the files to my friend but when he tries to login into the server he gets 'please check for updates' why is this??
why cant he access server i have my matchserver open etc and i used my ip and not 127.0.0.1 but he cant get in, i can login easily...please help as i want my friend to see my server
any help is much appreciated

yea portforward.com you need to forward 6000 to 8000
