So I actually know how to hex .mrs encryption but I am wondering when I changed my extension to something else and try hex editing it crashes my client, but when I got it back to .mrs it worked?
(I edited theduel.exe to accept the other extension obviously)

Maybe encrypt your .exe file to the same code and such.
I never knew that hex encrypting requires .exe encryption though.
Well, if you want your client encrypted and to work, you also need the theduel.exe/Gunz.exe to be encrypted too. I tested.

Encrypt them with the same code obviously, since just like Jirachi said, encryption can effect the client sometimes and probably is the reason why your client crashes =/.
