There was a bug in their previous updates which made you have to lead an additional 20-30 ping. They havnt "removed" lead.

As unrealistic as it might be, lead-shotting is in a way adding to your skill cap. Having to predict the enemy movement makes it a lot more fun, hence why I've never enjoyed anti-lead servers.
