Importing ".ani" files into Blender

We'll, im sort of new to the Blender club and I was trying to import ".ani" file type into Blender. However, everytime I import I'm getting Error: The Scene does not contain an armature.(Whatever an armature is >.>). I'm using Blender 2.49 and I am using the gunz_export/gunz_import scripts.

You need a mesh to apply the animation to.
Which in this case is the armature or the mesh itself if its a vertex/key animation.

Thanks for replying HellSniper. It's one of the NPC models from the 'Model.mrs' file. For example, do I need to import the '.elu' file, and its correlatiing '.ani' file into Blender? Or, can you only open one file in Blender at a time? In other words, I have the mesh I want(in an .elu file), and the animation(.ani file). Now how do I get them together in Blender?

You need to have the object in your scene of which your desired animation is trying to manipulate.

Import the model first, then the animation.

I tried that, but how do I view/render the animation after I've imported both the mesh and the animation?

I'm trying Render->Render Animation, and it's coming up with a black window and a loading icon. It's either slow/stuck, or I am doing something wrong



Edit: Nvm, I figured out how to run the animation.

Split a window and make it the timeline for better playback controls.
Set up a camera and a light.
Set the start and end point at the animation render options.
When everythings done hit the anim button.

Thank you. One last thing. Does the gunz_import/gunz_export scripts work with 2.5+ Blender releases? Right now, I'm using 2.49. I've tried them myself, but when I move the scripts over to the Blender Scripts folder, I don't see the option in File->Import that allows me to import the ".elu and .ani" in Blender.

Phantoms script doesnt work with 2.5.
Hes about to update his script to the 2.5 series.
But ... since the maiet plugins were leaked along with the source thats questionable.
