    Making Invisible Pants

Got the idea from a server I played some time for an invisible donor set. Don't remember which one, but credits to them for the idea.

But anyways, I am making the set, have everything set up fine, and the game loads fine. The stats show for each items, so i know it's not an xml error. The problem is, the top is invisible, the pants are just solid black. Why?

I alpha'd the entire thing in photoshop, and saved it as 1 bit alpha. I did this proccess for both the legs, and the shirt. The shirt is invisible, and the legs just appear solid black. Can anyone tell me why?

Its supposed that its needed to be painted in black, black = transparent, not red.

Look at the layers on the right, it's painted black. It just appears red. It's how the alpha layer works (at least in cs4).

No. The lower section of the body disappears, considering "Invisible pants".

No it should just make see through pants (a.k.a. no legs). But it still isnt working for some reason. Just the pants wont. Top does. Any advice?

Have you tried doing this with any other leg items (Different models)? I think when I did this certain models wouldn't use Alpha p_p.

    Re: Making Invisible Pants

The Mesh needs to use the alpha of that texture.
(Editing the Meshs Options a bit)
Otherwise it wont do as you want ;>

    Re: Making Invisible Pants

maybe you are saving it wrong.

Make sure that in NVIDIA dds format table is selected:
    "DXT3 ARGB 8 bpp | explicit alpha"

It should work fine if you save with those setings o.O

    Re: Making Invisible Pants

Pluke, the mesh only uses alphas if you "tell" the mesh to use the alpha channel.
Otherwise it will display it normaly.
Also, using DDS is a epic fail imo.
Its way easier to use Png...

So hod do I change dds files to png when in elu hex file pictures are writen as tga, but picture is given as dds? That confusing me :S
I like dds moar so.. WIN

Anyways maybe you know why alphas adding with hex wont work for me (it still looks same after adding alphas to item)?

    Re: Making Invisible Pants

Gunz looks for both, the original texture type, TGA and it looks for DDS.
    (Obviously with the same name)
Changing the Material&Texture with a hex editor isnt a Problem at all.
(But doesnt tell the mesh to use the alpha)

Like i said you have to change a option on the Mesh in Blender to tell the Mesh to use the Alpha of the Texture.
Through Comparing one with and without could make it possible to do this change with a hexeditor but im to lazy.

As you can see here, a weapon with alpha:
    http://www.abload.de/img/haloswordv46t.png
And this is the weapon in a hexeditor and besides the texture in xn view,
showing that the texture actually does have a alpha:

So this alpha was added with hex edittor?

I tryed myself from "alpha chanel adding with hex" tut on same item and after all editing it just became same as before editing (no alphas cuts apeared ingame) >_>

Some people says that its posible only with blender :S

I sued sirawesome's tut and tryed with axe but it didnt work for me >_>

Also that tut was made before blender came to gunz wich means that I should be able to add alphas without blender...

ok I typed a lot lol... maybe you will get what I am talking about

    Re: Making Invisible Pants

Nope, thats a custom item i made, its done in blender.
I the screen with the model opened in a hex editor was related
    to the TGA/DDS part.

Using Blender is the Easiest and quickest way to do it.
Since its just clicking one option ...
