Well in Gtk you can import .lwo .md3 .obj and .3ds models with the misc_model option.
Right click in one of your grid views > misc > misc_model
The thing is I can't find a way to get skins onto my models, I can view the skins on downloaded models just fine but I don't know how to link a lwo/3ds/obj file to a skin. When I try with an md3 my image is replaced by a flat brown colour skin.
Any idea what I am doing wrong? Using NMD3C to change the md3 skin paths btw.
