PhotoShop .DDS

Hi I need help, I am currently making my own interface for
Gunz, and I edited hp.tga.dds located in
GunzFolder>Interface>default.mrs>combat>hp.tga.dds
I edited it to a different color and now when I try to save it,
it says its going to delete Alpha Channel, But I don't want to delete Alpha Channel, because without it, it will show black backround. Also the hp.tga.dds was originally a white backround not transparent, so just erasing black back round will just cause a white back round. If someone can help me, It will be much appreciated.
