How hard is it to open the launcher in Hex go search for gunzweb and there you see a ip adress and then just overwrite it with your ip. Create a map called gunzweb in your apache then map Gunzupdate and inside that your runnable and patchbuilder and then build it.

Why hex it if the source is released..

You can easily compile your own launcher.

If he cant even setup the Launcher correctly with some edits with Hex (not meant that he is a totaly noob) why should he then compile it?
