    Question about .elu and .ani

    Hey Ragezoners!

I've got a little question about Blender.
I made a shotgun in Blender, and uv mapped it, and textured it.
I got a image file for the uv mapping.
From Blender I exported it to 3ds max 2010 (using .FBX exporter)
In 3ds max 2010 everything looks fine and the same (texture also in it)

Than I export to .elu .ani and I get 2 files.
    Shottie.elu (size : around 300 kb I thougt)
    Shottie.elu.ani (size : 1 kb)

I put this in the gunz server and client (that's all fine, someone who did this before did this)
And now the weapon is invisible. (It does shoot)

But where did I do something with the texture? I think I'm doing something wrong.
I tried to look on the forum, google, but couldn't find anything.

    Can someone please help me?

And just to know,, what means .ani and what means .elu?

    Thanks in advance,

    IRock

Re: Question about .elu and .ani

it probably isnt invisible, just really small. try scaling your gun up by a lot and see if it shows ingame then

Going to try when I'm home, thx for response.
    Hope it will work.
And isn't it wierd that the .ani (I guess for the texture) just 500 BYTES is?

Re: Question about .elu and .ani

Elu, what appreviation stands for is unknown, is the model filetype gunz uses.
Ani stands for animation and is the file animation information is stored in.
If there is no animation information the ani is ~1kb.
Untick key ani on exporting when exporting items/cloths etc.
Its only needed for map or effect/interface objects.

If the model is invisible its either scaled to small (as the previous post mentioned) or gunz couldnt load the model (due to typos etc) but since it shoots as you stated, its just scaled to small.
If it would be a texture issue the model would be displayed completly white (with shading).

Dont forget to place a muzzle_flash dummy facing away from the item, so the gunz shoots from the right point and the muzzle fire isnt blocking your view.

    HellSniper thanks for your post.
Just a question, I'm a starting weapon maker.
What do you mean with muzzle_flash dummy ?
Can I create it in blender and will it still work exporting to FBX (for 3ds max 2010)

    Thanks already a lot!

Lol btw, I will find out that muzzle_flash dummy thing on youtube :p

    True about the size!
Now just one problem, the texture is not showing up.
    How to fix this?

I made an UV map in blender, exported to 3ds max 2010 (the whole file to .FBX)
And when I open it everything looks fine, the colors and all.
But when I export for gunz I don't see the color thingeys,
Is there something I need to do?

    Thanks in advance!

Re: Question about .elu and .ani

The muzzle_flash is the point where the shot will spawn/start from and also the point where the fire animation will be displayed upon fireing a weapon.
If the dummy is missing the game will display them at x0z0y0 upright, blocking your view to some degree while firing, its not a big problem with shotguns but with rifles/fast shooting weapons.
Just create a dummy once you imported the mesh into max.

You have to assign the material properly in max and ofcourse place the texture with the elu file.

Mhm okay, I'm also chatting to you in private but just a question for everyone here :

Is there any tutorial about the basics of this?
Maybe if not, if I understand it maybe I'll make a tut to share for the beginners (or I'm the only one who don't know it >.<)
