[Question]About Filelist update

Everytime I get new things for my private server ,or update something in my server I should update the filelist right ?
what should I do if I want to update files without update the filelist ?
as I understand there is launcher that are SKIP the filelist ,if I will use him I will can to update things on my private server without update the filelist ?
