Anyone with an understanding of Hacker / AntiHacker could tell me how it works:

Crasher
Kore

As the match server is attacked with this? which to base this? basic measures for Patching or just reduce the damage it causes

Most server crashers work by sending a malformed packet that matchserver doesn't know how to handle, and then... crashes. Exploits are any flaw in the code, and are usually really easy to fix since you can just disable that part of the code entirely, or quickly patch it. And if you DO mean DDoS when you mean Kore.

A DDoS is really not that easy to stop, dont listen to TDC he doesnt know what he's talking about. You cant use software to stop a DDoS. You need to contact your host and tell them whats going on, from there they will deal with it.

A hardware firewall will stop a DDoS but a software wont stop any decent DDoS

Hardare, software, firmware, (Yes I know the difference) but I knew someone would pick that out. And yes there is software to stop ddos attacks. In-fact if I recall correctly there has been a couple released here on ragezone. (Don't quote me on that)

No, software can't stop a DDoS.
Even a hardware firewall could have trouble blocking a DDoS (Anonymous vs PayPal/Amazon/Visa).

A Software can drop DDOS Packets from your incomming traffic, but when the DDOS attack is not made from a slow connection (A lot of packets per second), your software will be taking nearly 100% of your CPU and so that your Server will stop working.

A Hardware firewall is made to protect servers from big attacks like DDOS Attacks, but if your running a small GunZ Server, i don't think you will need a Hardware firewall, most of the attacks aren't that big that you need it, a Software would do it, check this: FortGuard - Professional Anti-DDoS Firewall.
