[Suggestion] Showcase as a new section

Well i've been here for about 6 months and i have noticed one thing. If you dont release your project you dont get noticed. Only the people who give away their stuff get any reputation at all. This can be changed.

Showcase Topic has been around for ages, but only the people that post there look at other peoples stuff. I dont like this about this forum.People should be praised for their hard work even if they dont give it freely. This was brought to my attention by a friend who does not want everyone having his item, but knows that if he doesnt release it no one will ever even see it. People end up just showing their stuff in development section and giving a reason why its in there, and i too am guilty of that. This needs to be changed in our forum, and this would aid other problems too. Even one Thread per person is better then 1 thread period <.<

Problems that would be affected.
Team recruits would be easier to find, seeing that people who are looking to be apart of a server could use this as their portfolio to show recruiters, in the end leading to less mis placed topics

Non released objects will have a place instead of the release section.

Help can be given on a one to one basis

Updates in items would be easier to follow

Etc.

This is my suggestion and i hope to see it be put into action

Good idea, keeps items exclusive and still used :p
So what you mean is giving them to specific server owners etc with some decent encryption so they can still be enjoyed?

It's a good idea but this is a forum to help and contribute. If you want to show it off have it in your game and link your game in your signature. Threads that are all about "Hey look how good I am but you can't have it I'm just here to show off" don't belong here.

Wrong. I have never released my work but im well known even got a mod status in RZ and was running rzgunz. People do look at the threads its just they dont find any reason to post.

Atm im already trying to talk with dan and exe about ading a showcase section. But Rz really hates adding extra to one section that another section doesnt have. So its been a hard road to get it added. I was trying to get a sub section in development added.

Wrong. There is a section provided for advertising and asking for help. If people are to LAZY!!! to go and check then thats there own problem. If you really want to look for people you will do like we all did. Advertise Advertise Search Search. And all that will happen is that the threads will become a long ass advert for the server there hosted on. If the portfolio section is added I will be getting a rule added that all images of your server and its name MUST me REMOVED.

They should have never been in the release section in the first place. If they are they will be removed.

To show a peice of created work [Lets get it correct we mainly mean sets and items and coding is classed as development] There is no needed one to one basis. Pretty much your looking for. WOW thats great or ew thats bad. Not a nice little 3 page convo

Not really. In one thread you can simply go threw the pages and see the progression as there nice and ordered by the thread set up.

Its a good idea but you lack many thoughts in the correct set up. As I stated im already trying to deal with this but it depends on 2 simple things. A yes from Dan [mental] and a yes from lee [exe]. With out there yes its not even worth talking about./

To your guys thing what im saying is that i dont have enough space number one to hold all 300 or so gunz clients that are active, let alone my own work. No i dont want this thread to go completely ego, but i only see a few people who are considered "Best Gunz Coders" a few modelers who are the "Best Gunz Modelers" and a few GFX artist who are the "Best GFX Artist for Gunz" this is kinda screwed up. If people could actually show what they are made of, put themselves out on a limb, and being willing to learn, well then those people who already know what the hell are doing can help them become better and better. Ive helped tons of people in this way, and no im not one of these "BEST" guys but if i know what im talking about i share, on a one to one basis or to the whole forum. But i am only one guy. Think if you got a person working on his OWN emulator, but he is still working on getting the networking down. He posts his stuff, what hes having troubles with and leaves it there for a few hours. You could get guys who have done this stuff before help teach him how to do this. This happens at times on this forum, but not consistantly. Its usually just a either. OO that looks nice, OO that sucks, or OO im going to take this and not say anyhthing. Thats the point im getting at.

1. Your a moderator. This changes alot of views. Staff members always get more attention, respect and credibility in alot of cases

2.Thank you for talking to them about it... and i knew it was going to be hard along the road but i was hoping with enough users agreeing we might see change.

3. I wasnt meaning that this was the spot for team recruitment, i was saying it might lead to less idiots to be so lazy and post it in incorrect places, this happens on a day to day basis and im tired of it. I for one use the report button, and when im doing it at least 1 time a day it gets annoying. This would slow it down a bit

4. See 3, same type of answer just on a different topic (same concept)

5. i for one dont read through a 10 page topic just to find an item maturing .-. i might go through 3-4 and watch a whole artist change, but for just one item idk. Its hard enough trying to keep up with the covenant set bc im so busy, let alone all the other items being made out there
