hello guys. I'm planning on renting a VPS but i'm unsure of how it works. Has anybody had experience with a VPS, can you tel me what im supposed to do after i purchase one? Like do i need to set up odbc connection again or where do i put my files and such. Please help, i'm very anxious.
Where did you get it from? If VPS land, well you're fucked. I suggest you look into Frantech. They just moved to a new data center with amazing servers :D. I can keep you posted if you PM me or DeltaAnime.

I got mine from Server Choice, based in the UK however. If you want a good VPS, go to KickAss VPS 100% uptime and their support is amazing.
SolarVPS, Linode, Slicehost are the best, non oversold options available - OP, if you're positive on host, just know a VPS generally will be identical to managing a dedicated box. Everything you'd have to setup on a dedicated box you're renting from is pretty much the same as a VPS.

The way they configure their boxes from the start - a while back, I ordered a Debian box, and it was configured with outdated services and SSHv1 from the very beginning. The same can be said for their Windows boxes.ooh, howcome their insecure?
still VPS Land are about the cheapest I've seen, but I wouldn't mind checking out some other Good VPS offers possibly. Seems most seem to have a downside anyways, Not a easy search for a the perfect VPS :p

Just because you have hosting there doesn't mean you'll be able to reach the full specs you've been offered - hence, an "overseller".
