Restoring chars v3.8

Hey thanks for all the help this board is amazing. I've looked through all the postings but I am having this one problem. When I try to "restore" a character, meaning setting its level and bonus points. It renders the character unable to use the bonus points all the clicking in the world does not allocate them. Is there any particular table that I have to edit along with the game id because as soon as I change the char level that char cannot use bonus points even ones from legendary medicines. :tongue_ss

Things I've tried:
using bonus2 points
changing HP and MP to 1
setting char as gm with full permissions
setting quests to -1

Any help could be appreciated thanks.
