You can host login server on 1 and gameserver on another. But right now l2j is not to resource intensive so as long as you have a fairly good rig you should be fine on 1. Another option is to put the sql database on 1 server and rest of server on another this will help some if you have a busy server.

The boxes need to be at same location though if they are not it will be no good.

i sugest u to use 1 pc for gameserver and login server other for database. for gamserver u can use microsoft production for database i sugest u To use something like FreeBSD or other BSD family os(better performance more security, easier to config)
if u use this combination u don;t need super computer to run server withut lag.

just dont forget to set your virtual memory in MS production from 800MB to 4GB and add to boot.ini options /3GB ir realy helps :)

the other guys comp needs to be literally right next to yours. Even if it was a few houses away the time to the database would be too much.

If you had to pick 1 computer the 1 with the higher upload would be the choice. With those computers you will run out of upload before resources with L2J.

it has nothing to say what you just said, My High rate is hosted at my home, and its more than 1500 KM from the Loginserver, and I don't have fucking db problem!

Login server and DB server is a huge difference. Read before you post.

yes Yes i know. Hrmmm ok, what i am saying is the computer that hosts the database needs to be close to the gameserver. The loginserver can be farther away.

If the gameserver has to fetch and write data from a comp that is even a little ways away the players will get lag...the login server don't matter so much.

wrong, the db is constuckted otherwise, even if it was far away, it would'nt do a shit, or so does mine, the high rate of mine is only gameserver, db is also hosted on the loginserver comp

Wel i would have to disagree. Looks like we need some more opinions, hopefully a few other people will post what they know from experience. Mine is that a database on a server far away from a game server will cuse lag. On a server other than gameserver it doesn't matter. I have tried hosting DB on server only across town from gameserver both on stable highspeed connections and there was still lag for the players.

Anyways bedtime..either way hope this is resolved when i wakeup :)

hmm I'm the other guy heh, so you think its better for us to put the db and login server
on my computer (P4 2.8) and the game server on his?
or on my computer only the mysql db :\
if so then how to edit the servers? anyway we can try both options but how to set it right
just to put the right ips and mysql db name and password?

It's hella simple. The DB has to be on the same comp as the GS or like 1 foot away on the same cluster or you WILL get database lag as time goes on. That's called networking 101.
