Re: A new server
Due to the changes that happen between patches one server won't usually support different clients unless the changes are minimal. You'd have to run separate emulators for major client version differences.
The only way to change the core mechanics of WoW are to edit the client's files and Ragezone doesn't allow discussion involving editing the game's files.
It's hard to just say something like "Get this database, it has lots of quests." because a lot of quests require scripting server-side. I use Trinity for the emulator and Trinity Database and I'm fine. Just find what works for you, there isn't anything close to perfect.

Re: A new server
Well, I have one website open that says
For 3.3.5 Set realmlist pvp.xxxxxxx.xxx
For 2.4.3 to 3.09 Set realmlist logon.xxxxxxx.xxx
So, you can connect with clients 2.4.3 ... up to 3.0.9
How is that possible?
And OM...G, is it for real, that Blizzard gave us open hands to do anything we like?
I mean, if all those things are mostly client sided, then we could ... you know what, I'm not suprised anymore that the server is so small.
And Akreao, I'm guessing, you just download a server, change the name, and host it, like it was yours ?
I was hoping that someone knows how is WoW server even made, how is it written?!
But oh well, I guess my best friend, GOOGLE, will help me out.
