[ASCENT] Dedicated Server IP

I'm quite confused and angry.

I've been receiving donations out the butthole when finally, I had enough for a paid host. I bought it with the money and now I have the IP for the server. It's currently ONLINE, but thats not my problem. I don't know where exactly I should stick this IP into. I've tried replacing it with all of mine (Previously, I had hosted the server) and still I had no luck. I ran into 'Server connection fail.... Try again later'. I've tried having the logonserver on my IP and the realm in theres. I got as far as the pre-character creation page, but I still couldn't log into the game server itself. It would say repeatedly 'logging into game server' (I may be wrong about the 'game server' part.). Now, I don't know what to do.

If anyone could please post something helpful and/or has experience with paid hosting servers with WoW successfully, I'd love to hear your feedback and advice. Thanks.

I don't know where exactly I should stick this IP into.

Use the Dedicated IP's external IP in all config files, set up a DNS to reach that specific IP, have everyone set their Realmlists to that DNS, set all your configs with that DNS to fit properly (remember to keep all IP's that are default at 0.0.0.0 alone), and leave the ports alone. Just remember to forward the ports, disable firewall, and you should be good. Don't know what else could be the problem there.

Just use DNS names...
(and if you had used it allready,you would only have to change the IP for the DNS, end of case)

I've tried this method before. The DNS isn't the real problem, as its used for the members to register when configurated correctly. I just want to be able to test the dedicated server on my server before it goes public.

My new problem is that I've been told that I would have to transfer my server files to the dedicated server harddrive and host it from there using 'remote control access', a term I'm very unfamiliar with. I have the information to access this, but it says I would need a SSH client. If someone could explain to me how this works exactly, I would be deeply appreciated. Thanks for the responses.

Start -> Accessories -> Communications -> Remote Desktop Connection.. it's pretty straight forward from there.
