[Ascent] Port Forward Warning

Ok there's something i hate about and i gunna say it, its very strange on the setup guide says required to open port 3306, that got me into investigation, yesterday night i gained control to my admin's new router and i did some test. There were 8 ports total asked to forward but actually 4 of them can be forwarded to public, basiclly my target is to prove 3306 is a critical port and shouldn't be open for public. Its proven i'm right, by using following port and friends still able to connect from outside.

3724 - 3724 - Internal Logon Server to Game Server
8129 - Login Server (Realm Server?)
8093 - 8093 - Remote Console (Realm ServerPort Combo?)

In those 3 ports i'm guessing there's 1 or maybe 2 more port(s) that is no needed to forward and i will do the test tonight and see. People are yelling hacker hacked thier sql database becuase i think they make it public.

Now its time to fix that guide to prevent noobs being pwnt! :busted_co

If you have developers and other admins that need access to your databse then you most deffinetly need 3306

if not, you dont need it

Tell me what is it required to open 3306 for? I though client sync to gameserver only, im not even sure if it connect directly to logon server.

I wouldn't put port 80 in the list as its common use for everything.

port 80 is for HTTP so others can access your site and 80 is for WAMP as well

as i said before


3306 is only needed when you have remote access to your SQL databse.

btw this cleared things up.. i removed 8093 on my router and left only 2 working and will test tonight. Hopefully somone can edit the guide and put descriptions. Instead of putting everything on that people don't need..

Back to topic i wouldn't care to make a guide and waiting to get stickied, its the Developers should take care and improve stuffs.
