    [Ascent] Unable to connect

    I have configured all the info right, but what ports must be forwarded?

    When my friend tries to connect, it goes to "Authenticating" and then just displays the unable to connect message.

    Any ideas?

    Re: [Ascent] Unable to connect

    and you can connect local? and want to be able to connect both on the same realm?

    1. then you have to go to your realms.conf
    2. change RealmCount in 2
    3. go all the way down.
    4. add after your realm name this: ;local (for example <Realm1 Name = "unleashed.game-server.cc;local"
    5. paste and copy this under the realm1
    <Realm2 Name = "Servername"
    Address = "WanIP:8129"
    Icon = "PVP"
    Colour = "2"
    Population = "1.0"
    TimeZone = "1">

    5. Save all the stuff and then start your server... if everything is right you can connect on local, and the others on the normal one... and play together on the same realm.

    Thats not the problem though, other users get stuck at "Authenticating" when they try to log in, I can connect fine, and the realm is on my dyndns so it wouldnt matter.

    Re: [Ascent] Unable to connect

    Hey dude,

    Firstly, check what ports are open... in theory, no more than logon port and server port
    must be forwarded.
    I think ports bellow are enough to forwarded:
    8093 (logon server)
    8129 (realm server)
    may be 3724 too, but it's looks like the port where logon listen for realms,
    so if you run all server in the same machine, or even at LAN, you do not
    need to forward it.

    hope it's help ya =)

    hugz!

    you have to forward ports on your router in order for OTHER people to connect...these ports are listed above...

    Re: [Ascent] Unable to connect

    Same problem here, I can connect from LAN but friends can't connect from internet. Today I had this problem, because I originally installed ascent on my main PC and configured all IPs to localhost, then I moved it to my gateway, changed IPs, but on realm.conf I didn't know it should be changed too. I fixed it and now it works fine for me, I also changed any reference to localhost and 127.0.0.1 to my no-ip domain. I'm monitoring, and what I can see is that his client connects to my logon server, because Comodo Firewall shows the connection. On mysql database I also can see his last login time and last IP, so he is connecting on logonserver. But he gets struck on Success window and can't enter realm server list to choose server, much less enter it to create his first char. On ascent command prompt also I can see when I connect and when I enter on my char, but nothing is said about him. I tried Kameleon20's suggestion but also no success. Both on intranet and internet my no-ip name is accessible, so I think it is not the problem.

    Re: [Ascent] Unable to connect

    Sorry for the bad layout, for some reason I can't change line... If he uses a false password he receives an error message, but when he uses the right pass he gets struck on success window. I configured Comodo to allow anything coming from his IP.

    That's strange. If it was a realm server problem, he should be able to enter realm list window, see my realm, choose it, and only then gets stuck. Logon server doesn't even show him the realm list.

    Re: [Ascent] Unable to connect

    I use Comodo Firewall 3.0 and have the same config for both logonserver.exe and ascent.exe: trusted application on firewall and Defense+. I also allowed any TCP and UDP traffic originated from his IP. This is strange. If it was a problem to access realm server, he should still receive the realm list window and see my realm there, and only then not be able to access it to create a char. Being stuck on success windows seems to mean that he can't communicate properly with logon server, even after connecting and logging on it. He told me he is using original BC version 2.0 build 6080 because he has no update for it. First server told him to update, so I configured it to allow any build after 6000 and then the success window stuck happened. Maybe Ascent is just not compatible with old versions?
