Connection problems with ManGos!
Hey, here is my problem: I can connect to my server fine and dandy, but noone that is not connected to my LAN can connect. I have the realmlist table set to my dns name alyx.mine.nu which is forwarded to my external IP adress. My ManGos works fine and when i connect there are no problems. I set my realmlist to my dns name alyx.mine.nu and i can connect perfectly fine (I added my dns name/internal ip adress to my hosts file). Can anyone help me?
(also, do i need a STATIC or DYNAMIC dns host type?)
My internal IP is: 192.168.1.4
My external IP is: 72.197.119.64 (which is set to both my dynamic and static DNS hosts)
My STATIC dns host is: alyx.mine.nu
My DYNAMIC dns host is: alyx.gotdns.org
Please, i beg you, help me!
-THANK YOU.

Set your realmlist in your sql to your external IP. Then add your LAN IP into your realmlist.wtf .If you use your external it confuses it all, other people can still connect through the internet it just means you have to connect through the LAN

When i do that, i get stuck in a realmloop because the IPs don't match. The only time i can connect is when i set my external IP to both my realmd table and my realmlist.wtf or my dns name to both, but then noone can connect to my server. My router does not let me connect to my OWN external IP because it does not see it.
Bump.

I took my website added a sub domain wow.xxxxx.com and forwarded it to my wow server so anyone who wants to connect just puts wow.xxxxx.com in the realmlist.wtf
then I added wow.xxxxx.com to my DB.
then on the computers that are internal I added this line to my host file
192.168.1.4 wow.xxxxx.com
for some reason the internal machines have to have atleast one toon made on account for it to get past the eternal connecting deal :)
works perfect for me, hope that helps

I don't mean to sound stupid, but how do i set up a sub domain? And by website do you mean DNS hostname? If my DNS hostname were to be, say, fakedns.no-ip.org how would i set a sub domain to it?
Thanks~

Dynamic Network Services, Inc. -- DynDNS -- Welcome
-You can make one there. (Doesn't mean much though, just so you don't want to give out your personal IP as a realmlist. Also it works without changing hosts files - Did for me at least.)
Just set your realmlist.wtf as "set realmlist 127.0.0.1" Static works fine also, Dynamic is incase your IP is always changing? I think.. You're friends need to change their hosts files also. Well it's what I've heard when I read up on it. Means nothing to me because mine worked without the hosts files. Along with maybe sometimes if you run SQLyog and it makes you loop in game on the realmlist screen then switching to Navicat usually fixes that issue. If I am not helpful or just posted what someone else did because I never really read it, let me know. Also try and get some screenshots.
