Getting into friends database

Okay when I try to put my friend's database info in and try to connect it says:

Host 'adsl-074-229-251-006.sip.bhm.bellsouth.net' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server


Does he need to authorize me or something?

Yes, he will need to add your host, using wildcards or an exact hostname entry to allow you to connect to the database.

give your friend you ip...
your friend has to make a new sql account for you and set your ip...
the you will be able to connect

or, get your friend to set the host for the user account u are using to %, allowing you to connect from any IP. It's handy if you have a dynamic IP.

Herm still isn't working. Does he need to check the wildcard thing under databases?

Does he need to restart database/server?


DITTO: Okay I think I have identified the problem. When he started his server with WAMP5 he selected localhost as his host. Was he supposed to put his IP there for me to access it?
