You ONLY need 1.12.1 , neither 1.12.0 nor 1.12.2 . Only 1.12.1 will work.

I use 1.12.2, and it works perfect for me.
I found out my issue, anyone who needs help with setting up the Kobold server for multiplay, (or has issues with SMC routers) can just PM me, else great job guys :) You pulled me out of the newbie stadium now ^^
Little advice to all those who still can't make it work, no matter what you try; keep fiddling with it, at some point you'll see the logicstic in the programs/codes/system so you wont be at the stadium where you copy/paste and hope for the best, when you get to that point - it's all getting clear :)
Anyone have any knowledge on using dns (dynamic naming services) instead of the external ip due to my router reconnecting 4 times daily for security reasons it would be inapropriate to try to constantly update it all the times it reconnects. Im not a newb in the networking arean as im currently doing my honours degree in networking but it seems to me to be either a emu related issue or a human error by me lol. but all necessary requirement have been done already all ports opened, firewall configured for in and out access to the server and as far i can tell from every related post on this websit the config files and db are set to the right ips.
so any help muchappreciated
Hi, im at work at the moment so all these details may not be correct but i have 3 pc's on a network, 2 that im using to host/play wow
Router 192.168.1.1
Server 192.168.1.3
Wow PC 192.168.1.2
other 192.168.1.4
Im using no-ip.com and the DUC software to route my dynamic ip to wowkipo.no-ip.org
I have changed the realmlist to wowkipo.no-ip.org on WoW Pc
and also the .conf files on server and the sql table (maybe called world_list) as per kenny's repack instructions.
I have also forwarded the ports mentioned in the guide to the server pc
When i load up the world server it gets to the honor system setup and shortly afterwards brings up an error (about the ip) and restarts from the beginning. also when i try to connect to wowkipo.no-ip.org i get the password box for my router and the same goes with friend who try to connect. I did get the server to work by changing all the ip addresses to my external ip but i really need to use the no-ip.org address due to my ip changing every day!!!
I've installed a loopback adaptor to External IP, Subnet (255.255.255.0) and my local ip (192.168.1.3) but this doesnt correct the problem.
Is there anything i can do?
Finally I figured out how it's gonna be. I will explain now how can you setup a server for both LAN and Internet. Note that this tutorial is for guys that they use a cable/adsl router to join the Internet and they are behind this router's LAN.
1)First of all forward the following TCP ports in your router to your LOCAL IP:
TCP 3725,3724,4200. No other ports are needed.
2)Open world_server.conf, realm_server.conf, login_server.conf in WS, RS and LS folders.
In there set EVERY IP into your LOCAL IP(for example 192.168.0.2).
3)Open sql.conf.
In there set the IP to localhost or 127.0.0.1(except if you have the mysql server elsewhere).
4)Open navicat or phpmyadmin and in the worldserver_list table in your database use your LOCAL IP.
5)Open realm_list table in your database and add you EXTERNAL IP (the one you get from What's My IP Address? Your IP is 69.72.187.42.
6)Now the trick is to add another server in the realm_list table in your database.
7)For example make 2 records and name the servers like My Server Internet and My Server LAN.
8)For My Server Internet use your EXTERNAL IP (What's My IP Address? Your IP is 69.72.187.42).
9)For My Server LAN use your INTERNAL IP.
Alternatively use this query:
Now each side player has to choose the corresponding realm. Internet for the Internet player and LAN for the LAN players. Internet players will use your INTERNET IP in their realmlist.wtf and LAN players will use your LOCAL IP in their reamlist.wtf.Code:REPLACE realm_list VALUES(1, 'My Server Internet', 'YOUR INTERNET IP HERE', 3725, 1, 1, 0, 1);
REPLACE realm_list VALUES(2, 'My Server LAN', 'YOUR LAN IP HERE', 3725, 1, 1, 0, 1);
Using this solution you are able to support many players on both sides (LAN, Internet) on the SAME realm using the SAME characters. Don't bother that the name of the realm differs, don't forget that we didnt change database in the sql.conf files and we didn't create a new one either so both names are pointing on the same realm.
I hope this tutorial solved many problems.
Lol with all the things we've fiddled around with...can't believe I didn't think of this. Making a second realm would perfectly fix it. lol...wow. Smacking myself for that one. Awsome job mpompos! I'll link to your post on my front page post so people can find your tutorial!
If you want to make a mixed mode server(Internet and Local) then use my tutorial. Use your internal ips except realm_list where you will use your dns address (dns= domain name server not dynamic, no offence :drinks_no but i guess you were meaning DynDNS )
Same for youQuote:

The situation on the server I help run is this (before attempting this guide):
When logging in, a user can login, authenticate, and select the realm. After realm selection, the user goes to the character select screen with the message "Logging into game server." After about 20 seconds at most, the game displays the Realm Select screen. The game loops the realm between the realm server and the world server. Kenny said something about the RS not being able to ping the WS (or something to that effect). Myself, and the rest of the dev staff on my server have been working on this for more than the past week, and still no results. Any clue as to what may be the problem? All ports are set right, as are all the IPs.
I've solved it with Mangos like this:
Address in the realm data base is my external HOSTNAME, not my external IP or local IP
Forward the correct ports.
Edit your own host file, and set your local IP to the external host name.
Realmlist should have your hostname, no IP's
FE, my hostname is dude.com, external IP is 1.1.1.1, local 192.168.0.1
Outsiders resolve to 1.1.1.1 when they do a ping.
My host file:
192.168.0.1 dude.com
Address in the realm.db: dude.com
Now when i try to connect locally I get my char list and can play, and ppl from outside also can.
Hope this helps,
Are you using just a router that has tha role of the adsl/cable modem and connects you to the internet? if yes send me your msn in pm and we will talk from there.
It's the same like installing a loopback adapter as i said above with the difference that the loopback adapter can't use DNS. I'm not sure if it's needed to change your hosts file though. Anyway good job.Quote:

This makes another of whatever fixes that were posted and hasn't worked. I think the server's owner has a cursed PC >_>
Though, is it me, or does it seem like anyone with major issues seems to also be putting everything through a router + some type of DynIP service (like no-ip.org)?
