Guide To picking An Emulator
There seems to allways be allot of confusion on what the best emulators are.
Here is a nifty guide i found on the web when trying to decide myself what to use.
So heres a breakdown of a couple of emus.
WoWEmu
Pros
1. Easiest emu to install.
2. Decent amount of quests integrated.
3. Access to outlands via a map install.
4. Easily configurable.
Cons
1. WoWEmu is a dead project. As far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) they are no longer developing the WoWemu engine.
2. More bugs then MaNGOS or Kobold
3. So far can only be played on a hackpatched 1.11.2 client.
Overview/Links
WoWEmu is not a bad engine for wow, and if you're new to emus its definately the place to start.
Here are some great guides to get you started.
Vlandrik's Ultimate Guide
Halestorm's Ultimatum
MaNGOS
Pros
1. This project is growing at an exponential rate. New realeses on the MaNGOS engine are constantly being released.
2. More functional then WoWEmu.
3. Silver DB works alongside the Mangos project making world DB. Silver is very active and thier databse has many quests, items, and spawns.
4. Supports 1.12.1 & 1.12.2 clients with no hack patch.
Cons
1. Difficult to install.
2. More bugs then Kobld.
Overview/Links
MaNGOS is my overall favorite, so my review is probably somewhat biased. But, I'll try to keep to the facts. MaNGOS as of right now is the MOST active project. It's an open source project so it has plenty of people working on it. In my opinon this will be the first finished emu for wow, and Silver will probably produce the first wow world. If you have a decent understanding of sql then this is a good emu to work with.

Kobold(Formerly Ludmilla)
Pros
1. The most functional of any emu currently available to the public. (Most working spells, abilities, ai)
2. Supports 1.12.1 client with no hackpatch.
Cons
1. Closed source project.
2. Not nearly as many quests as MaNGOS
3. Most difficult to install.
Overview
I love kobold for how well everything works (spells, abilities, talents, ai), but since it is a closed source project I think MaNGOS will soon be more functional. There are only about 3 thousand quests implemented into their db. While thier current release is a great start, I just dont think the have the manpower to compete with MaNGOS. If your looking for the most funtional emu, and are willing to go through the installation and do without having as many quests, then this is for you.
Currently there are no guides for installing this. (At least not from this forum) I will work on a guide for it soon. (I have 10 million things I want to post here, just can't decide where to start, so nothing gets done lol)
If you disagree/have any input post it. Like I said I'm not an expert on emulators.

Nice, a bit messy but will go good.
As a quick sidenote, Kobold is not formerly Ludmilla, Kobold is just a Codename for it, like every Phone Model has they're own codenames before release.

Ill try to see if I can get the link again

Hmm.
I actually found Kobold the easiest to install, since it has various repacks that do the installation for you (and don't make you mess with MySQL for more than a few seconds). Whereas Mangos has few repacks and require you to do lots of updating, editing, and so forth with Navicat - I tried to install Mangos five or six times and never succeeded.
Newbies should definitely avoid Mangos if they fear frustration. I had Kobold up and running on my first try and I'm willing to work with the creators to fix the bugs.

Maybe it's worth to mention bandwith usage:
WoWemu takes about 0.75 - 1.00 kb/s per player, while
Mangos and Ludmilla need more the 5kb/s per player.
This means that with my current bandwith, I can host 75 people on wowemu, while on Mangos it's only max 15 players before my bandwidth is full :(
So for me, it's still WoWemu, hope they manage to get data-compression into Mangos.
Anybody knows bandwidth uasage for Ludmilla??

Ludmilla's repack 2.0 (the one posted by Drakelord) is really easy to setup. You don't need to install MySql, pretty straightforward.

Well personally I don't really care about computer specifications. As the most of us we care about working things. I got really impressed and excited when i noticed that kobold has so many things working. Nobody can practically competite it. And if it's keep going like that I'm gonna donate them and buy a dual cpu comp as well as 100mbps internet to host a good server. It worths.

Good write up.
The real argument is the future of emu. The problem with Kobold is that it has the potential to go the same route of WadEmu. However Mangos, setup a SVN Client and everyday you can grab the latest release.
I am Pascal/LUA coder so it will take a bit of work, but I can extended Mangos if I need to. So I am pinning my hopes on Mangos
