    GUIDE: WOW server behind routers

(Mystikfox's guide for routersetup (without pictures) <-- all credit to mystikfox for that hard to find guide)
    Guide: WOW server behind router
    V1.0
    WORKS WITH MOST Linksys Routers

Part A:: Static IP behind router
    1..Goto "Start > Settings > Network Connections

    2. Goto your active Network connection (i have 2 of them on my server) Right Click > Status

3..On the status page open Properties

4..On the General tab Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Then click on Properties

5..Setup Static IP (so the router can automatically forward the server connections to the server)
***NOTE*** The router may setup a different range of IP addresses

    IP address : SERVER IP
Default gateway: Router IP address (mine is 192.168.1.1)
Preferred DNS: Router IP address (same thing)

    PART B:: PORT FORWARDING

1.. Goto your routers Configuration page (aka Router IP address 192.168.1.1)

    2. Goto Applications and Gaming > Port Range Forwarding
    Put in the following

    Port
    APPLICATION--Start-to-END---Protocol---IP Address----Enable

    ____WOWREG_____8080 to 8080___Both____192.168.1.105__YES
    ____WOWWS______8085 to 8085___Both____192.168.1.105__YES

    ____WOWRS______3724 to 3724___Both____192.168.1.105__YES

3..Goto the DMZ tab and enable and change host ip to Server IP

4..If router has built in Wireless access goto the QoS tab

    Enable QoS
Check your router and pc to know what port your on
    Give That Port HIGH Priority
Disable Flow control to that port

PART C:: SETTING WOWEMU TO WORK WITH ROUTER

    1.. Get True ip address
    2.. Open WOWEMU Registration Entries
Add the server IP address where your ip normally goeshttp://showmyip.com

    **OPTIONAL BELOW**
    3. Use free forwarding service like http://no-ip.com (so other users outside of your network can connect and make account on the server
4.. Start WOWEMU and u can have a working server behind a router

    Few Pointers there:

Port Forward and Port Triggering = you do not need to enable both.
Port Forwarding will foward all packets for that Port to that IP all the time
Port Triggering will only forward the packets when there is a Application using that port, rest of the time the data is dropped.

DMZ is a "Send all Packets to ALL Ports on that IP" - thus by enabling this is opening all your ports 0-65535 on that Ip and thus pointless doing the Port forwarding in the first place. DMZ will open that machine wide open to attacks - simple as that..

All you needed to do was port forward the three ports to one IP - Job is done.

2.. Get True ip address http://showmyip.com
    3. Use free forwarding service like http://no-ip.com (so other users outside of your network can connect and make account on the server

but what should i do with my real ip and how can i use the no-ip service???

goto http://showmyip.com to get your true ip before your router(your friends can put this in ypur realmlist)
ALSO NO-IP is just forwarding the connection to your server its not required but its a lot easier

    about account creaton page..
(your ip):8080 (or what you wet yout "WOWREG" port to defalt 8080..)
    Code:
    set realmlist (your ip address)

Ok I have done everything listed above, (minus the dmz settings and other redundancys)
I have my no-ip thing set.
now here is where I am at
My buddy can make a character (port 8080)
and I can play locally (my realmlist is set to my local ip)
my buddys realm list is set to my no-ip forward address
the wowemu is set to my local Ip
I can log in and play,
my friend can log into the server, but can't connect to the realm.
So , I am wondering what to try now
I don't knowif its the host file or a error I have made when setting up the noip thing
    any ideas would be helpful
    thanks

I notice some connect problems too
Have your friend try your main IP address in the realmlist
if this dosent fix it i don't know what will

EDIT:: found 1 problem that may fix this bug.
WOWEMU.KEY => SERVER HOST=your ip (not static ip)
    THIS WAS MY SCREWUP
    Sry bout that

Also set you realmlist to your no-ip (or outside ip address)

Thanks bud, I will try that as soon as I get a chance.
But it raises a question for me.
Do I need the noip.com redirector?
If wowemu is set to my Actual Ip not the static lan ip, and friend trys to connect to my actual ip, it should bypass this all togeather , right?

    thanks again

All no-ip does id redirect the connection to your ip address. it is not required but sometimes easier to go that way (for other users anyway)

Think of it this way.. would it be easy to a website IP or type the websit itself
