[HELP]Custom Portals and Remote DB Access

First of all this is for Antrix server...i need to make custom portals and for some reason we cant get it set up so i can remotely access my friends db...hes using vista and i know there is a bit more security to get through but neither of us can figure why i cant get in...Thanks in advance
