KalManiac, can you please Upload your Configs and Hosts please?
It will help alot :)!
All of the IP addresses in your configuration files should point to whatever internal IP your router is port-forwarding to. You should NOT be putting 127.0.0.1 anywhere. If your server binds to 127.0.0.1 (realm or world) than no one can access it unless they are on the server itself.
1337Equillbrium,, why dont you try this*
Two questions:
Why are you using the HOSTS file? That file is not necessary with 2003 Server and 2000 Server or XP PRO SP2.
Who is your DNS server? You?
Make sure your realms conf is pointing to your PUBLIC DNS server. Not your localhost address. And try just erasing everything in your HOSTS, file, that file should NOT be necessary even with an internal DNS server.
But who is your DNS server?
Also Make sure if you are using Peer Guardian, Kaspersky, turn them off, Kaspersky can also block even with it's firewall I don't know why.
Also, if all else fails, try DMZ.
(And Make sure your not using 2.4.0) :)
I have 1 Problem.. Something is Blocking Ports.. So it says when i logon:
"Unable to Connect realmserver" and my Kaspersky is disabled when i do it..
Whats the Problem? - And im not Using Windows Server!
i used to run a server and i didnt edit c:/windows/system32/etc/drivers/hosts
just some pointless info
btw. ascent 2.4 is out lol.
Try a DMZ, and make sure the REALMS.conf is all pointing to the public DNS or address, not the private.
And again, you do not need your HOSTS file at ALL in the newer windows, WIndows NT was the only operating system you needed that.
You are only half correct. You don't NEED the hosts file, it is simply a way to perform manual Name to IP correlation prior to the system resorting to a DNS query. It's not required but still used.
See ^^
Maybe your router fell out with you..
Make it some tea, then buy a new one.
