[Help] Setting up a Private Server for myself..

Ok, i've read through the sticky'd thread at top of the page that tells me how to set my private server up. Now, I look at the screen with a blank expression, and ask myself what it is the thread just asked me to do. Is there an easier step by step guide for dummies, on how to set up a simple Private server?

All you have to do is download everything and configure it. Not that much too it.

theres no such thing as a "simple Private server"

as this is not a sanctioned emu by the games owners (Blizzard) there will always be problems and issues

all you can do is either follow it step by step (which to be honest if you follow it to the letter of the law you wont have any problems) or grab a repack and use that (such as mafiaboys which works great)

So i've downloaded Mafiaboy's pack; what else do I need to run my server? Seriously, this is my first attempt at anything like this. Was a retail whore, but I want a butchers at the private side.

the best way to start is to go verbatim from grandmast20's sticky
word for word

once youre somewhat familiar with how things work with that process you can adapt with a repack

you MUST know how to install for a repack to work well, its not just a cheap and easy way to get a server running (there are some all in one packs available out there but they are generally REALLY crap)

Thanks for the info; I tried again with the step by step list, and failed. Think i'm gonna give it a miss, unless I can just find someone who has one set up already.

I use MangoS.
The first time i installed it i followed the guide from http://forum.ragezone.com/f114/mango...-8-tbc-224719/.
